Blue calipers

Really dumb question. Long story short, my Audi S has red calipers that look great.

What's the most cost effective way to put blue calipers on a new x5? Find someone to paint them? Is there an official painted caliper available from bmw?

I feel stupid even posting this, but I want the M logo and stuff on them so I figure oem might be the best choice.

I'm going to have the dealer do the blacked front grille, why BMW would leave the grille silver with the rest of the trim black...I have no idea. I'd think with the msport package they could do the blue calipers as well....

The sport should really include both.

If they included them, then they wouldn't make money off of people that just want the M logo lol just paint them, otherwise you're going to pay out your ass for a set of brakes.

You could purchase and install the blue BMW M-Performance Big Brake Kit. Or you could have your factory calipers painted blue or any other color. Paint can be DIY or you can have a reputable mod shop paint them. The BMW Brake kit installed is close to $3K, while having them painted is probably $600-$800. Nice looking decals can also be added if you have your factory calipers painted.

Painting them runs about $200 for the set.

Sorry, I didn't mean to invoke your use of quotes and all caps. By market, I just meant your part of the country.

I purchased a set of 50i brakes and powder coated them black. Called 5-6 local shops who quoted me $400-500 to do the set. Then came across a shop 80 miles away (out in the country) who told me if I was willing to wait, they would do the job for $120. I wasn't in a rush and got excellent results back in about 1.5 month. It all depends on your situation, who you talk to and a little bit of luck.

To OP, if you can swallow the cost, get the M-Perfomance kit.

Where I live I was quoted $100 per caliper to paint them (by a reputable shop specializing in cosmetic mods), including decal of my choice. Comes $400 total, probably expensive for what it is (main reason why I decided to not do it), but they showed me how they do it - they do take their time and do the job properly, including excellent prep. Job is not hard, but it's tedious, you have to mask every small detail like valve rubber covers etc. to not cause issues down the road, need to wait before layers, do multiple layers and clear coat too - rushing is not good in this job. All things considered - car is going to be on the hoist for half a day at least and hence the price.
Now, of course, I saw some craigslist guys who claim to do it in 2-3 hours on spot, but I can imagine it's not going to be a best job. Most of them don't even take wheels off the car (rim design permitting) if they can mask it and spray can it - they don't care about quality or longevity, they are going to wait only 5-10 min between the coats and they won't care if sand will get onto paint either. The thing is with all the heat and metal dust - poor job would be visible in 1-2 years, while a good job will last longer. Just my 2c

IMO, painting stock single-pot calipers just draws attention to the fact that they are too small. Too many individual parts (caliper carrier, retention clip, pad cover) to paint detracts from the overall look vs big monoblock/multi-pot calipers. Putting an ///M sticker on the stock pad cover would look out of place. Again, I'll qualify that with a big fat "IMO". It's your car... if you like the look, go for it!

I agree in general. 50i does have bigger rotor and I think bigger caliper too (not 100% sure about that), but still it's not M kit brakes

Paint them black sign m decal up front. Will help hide the small single floating rear and protect against rust which these calipers love to do judging by all the F15 X5s I've seen lately
