Black Friday Deals on BMW Connected Drive Services

I needed to renew my BMW Connected Drive subscription so I went to the website and it turns out that they are running a Black Friday Sale on Services through 12/2/17.

The Connected Drive subscription is normally $50 per year but it's on sale for $30. I also added the Real-Time Traffic Information service for $30. It looks like you can extend the subscription for one year only. I couldn't see a way to extend any longer than that.

The Concierge service is also on sale, but I can't see myself ever using that one.

Thanks for posting this! For $30, I'm in so I can have full Spotify controls on the I-Drive.

You're welcome. It was just so weird that the services were on sale. I hadn't received an email or anything.

Plus, this is a good time to renew. So come next year, you'll most likely get to renew at a discounted price for Black Friday Sale again

Will Real Time Traffic give you notifications if you're not using the nav system? I rarely every use the nav system, because my phone is so much simpler, but would pay 30 bucks if it would give me proactive "heads ups".

Thx for eyeing out that discount, I really like RTTI, great for road closures and jams, was debating on getting it but for $30 a year is not bad.

Good question. It doesn't give you notifications since you're not navigating to a specific location, but I think if you go to see traffic data/list, then you might see what's upcoming. Not too sure, I'll check.

I would happily pay $30 for the RTTI. It had saved me over 1 hour alone yesterday from post thxgiving return home trip.

You can subscribe it multiple times by paying it multiple times. In my case, I got 2 year extended subscription by paying twice. I found this out by accidently paying it twice. Thought the first transaction didn't go through so went back to pay again. Then received 2 emails with invoices for each year 2017-2018 and 2018-2019.

Hope that helps!

If you are using the system to guide you to a destination, then it will suggest alternate routes based on traffic conditions such as accidents, closures, etc. If not using guidance, but viewing the map, there are icons for construction, accidents, closures, etc. that appear on the map. Additionally, traffic conditions are denoted by green, yellow, red and black lines on top of roads to show traffic flow. The roads covered by traffic flow information are more than just major highways - a lot more in the Denver area, at least.

My '18 X5 shows 1-year only. Others are all 3-years.

Bringing this thread back as the Black Friday sale is back for 2018, but not quite as good. I got an email today:

This holiday season, save up to 20% on select BMW ConnectedDrive services.* For a limited time, you can lock in special discounts on popular services such as BMW Online and Apps/ConnectedDrive Services, which keep you connected with News and Weather, Advanced Real-Time Traffic Information, to inform you about the road ahead**, and Concierge Services, to help you find that perfect gift.

*Applies only to renewals of Advanced Real-Time Traffic Information, Concierge Services, and ConnectedDrive Services. Excludes BMW Assist™ Safety Plan, BMW Assist™ Convenience Plan, Apple CarPlay™ Compatibility, and first-time purchases. Offers available for renewals of services expiring within 3 months from 12:01AM EST on November 16, 2018 to 10:59PM EST on January 7, 2019.

I was able to renew ConnectedDrive Services for $40 (normally $50) and RTTI for $43 (normally $50). Not as good as the savings from last year, but better than nothing.

There was a glitch with the RTTI last year where you can get 2 yrs for $60 ie 2 separate $30/ea transaction, i still RTTI till 2019, however i think i'm going to pick up connected drive service this time.

Google Maps, Waze, etc. all free and better but nothing beats the convenience of two-step process of a button press and the turn of the dial on the iDrive. Takes me one second to go see traffic info on my iDrive display vs possible 10-15 seconds of inattentive driving while bring up an app, enabling traffic info, etc.

Problem with BMW's system is that it isn't accurate. At least based on my experience.

I agree it's very convenient, frees up your phone, and I use it when I travel out town and works great.
