Which year(s) to avoid, if any?
Just beginning to look at buying a used F15 X5 and wondering if there are any years to avoid for various reasons...certain options not available, changes in nav/hud/etc, known issues, etc.
any advice is appreciated! |

Typically first model year which is 2014 for the F15... The best ones to get is the last two model years. This is the case for every car mfg out there.

Try to avoid from 2014 to 2018 mid summer, rumors are late 2018 is going to be better ones, but if you had to buy then what Kzang said

Get the 2016-2017 MY, they have updated I-Drive NBT2 and improved appearance (all models has square exhaust vs round or square) and better packaging options. And you probally can get some good close out deals...However if you can hold out 1 more year the New 2018-2019 BMW X5 G05 will be out soon.

Mr.47, thanks for the informative response, though since I am looking at used options, MY16 is probably what I would be limited to

any year is fine for the most part. the engine and trans and drivetrain is a carry-over design from the previous generation, so no worries there.

No major issues in any of the years so far that I've heard of. Got a 2014 myself. Still under warranty but still going great. Not one issue.

I just bought a 2014. I also just drove a 2017. The difference in suspension was not subtle. I was told that at some point, bmw updated the suspension which explains the difference. This came from a reliable source but not directly from bmw. I would recommend trying to verify if this change actually occured, when it happened and then try and get on the right side of it.
