Suspension Upgrade
I just purchased a 2014 xdrive50i msport with 44k miles. after driving it for a few weeks, im finding that i hate the ride quality. i have the 20" wheels on the car and i have already swapped out for conti all-season tires. that made a marginal improvement but it is still not what i was hoping for. it does NOT have adaptive suspension or DHP.
i thought there was no way this amazing car could ride this bad so i took it to the dealership and they said it is driving according to spec. my biggest issue is when driving around 30 mph on marginal roads, the car almost rocks back and forth like a boat. ive considered going down to 19" wheels/tires but my last car had shorter sidewalls and sport suspension and i never had an issue so i dont think it will solve things. my question is, can anyone recommend a suspension upgrade? i absolutely love everything else about the car and desperately want to enjoy it. |

going to 19" would help. but i have the conti all seasons in 20" also, and it drives pretty nice in my opinion. almost as smooth as the 19" wheels. 20" with runflats is definetly rougher riding. |

An upgrade to Eibach spring will help the ride.
Helped a lot of my customer with the upgrade and they are very happy with the result.

With it, you can fine tune the ride height and comfort based on your liking. Second best, Eibach spring or AC Schnitzer spring. But, you are still at the mercy of the stock dampers. Where it may or may not be good enough for you.

I had an X5 with the base suspension and got rid of it after 6 months because of this (my passengers would get nauseous). It shouldn't be offered stateside. X5M is worlds better (and basically DHP). Go with the KWs. |

Which one would you pick for spring? I know Eibach makes springs for ACS but would the ride be very similar? The price of ACS is twice as much as Eibach. In the F10 chassis, users claim ACS springs are way better and worth the extra cost. Just want to know if it's the case for F15.

The only thing, in the US, Eibach only available for standard suspension. While ACS available for all application. So, unless you have self-leveling, I would go with Eibach.

If the rocking back and forth like a boat you are referring to is when traveling straight, stiffer rate springs will make this worse. Although, this is more of an effect of the anti-roll bar than the springs imparting movements laterally as you drive down uneven surfaces. This is the primary benefit of the DHP package, it decouples the suspension laterally and decreases chassis movement. Stiffer springs will decrease body roll in turns but will allow any movement of a wheel as it follows the road to have a greater affect then the stock springs on the movement of the chassis. Having driven a few jeeps with the front anti-roll bar disconnected, the ride quality is amazing, handling not so much.
