Your source of wipers

I cheaped out on wipers for the first time and went with the $32 bosch set for my x6. Not only do they come with an ugly enclosing but they also leave streaks bon the windshield.

What brand of wipers do you all use? Oem or aftermarket? If aftermarket, is it possible to reuse the housing from the oem wipers?

Thanks in advance!

In my experience, BMW wipers are the best ones. Get them from FCP Euro. Lifetime replacement. You just pay shipping back of old ones. Even if you don't get them FCP, you could get them from dealership for as little as $50 for set - which is the same price for set of almost any other brand (Valeo, Bosch, etc.)

EDIT: Here is a link for FCP: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...es-61610039697

My local dealership price: https://parts.sterlingmotorcars.com/...de-61610039697

OEM wipers are actually very good. a lot of people hate it for its framed design, but in fact, the frame allows even pressure across the whole blade where as those frameless design looses wiping pressure around the outside edges (re: bosch icons)

if u want a really good set of wipers, get a set of piaa wipers. their silicon wiper blades are awesome and lasted through 6+ years, no streaks even on chipped windshields. they are... quite costly tho.

I buy OEM wipers from Amazon. Problem solved.

Rock Auto - Manufacturers closeouts...

2 or 3 bucks for blades worth 20 to 30...

Living in Canada, you soon find out that there’s no difference between them when a vehicle sits outside in winter... it doesn’t take much to damage them if your not careful and it doesn’t matter how much they cost...they still break eventually, with one wrong jab of a scraper... or clearing a blade that is a block of ice...

Another route to take for those that are handy...is to go with wiper refills. You can just swap out the old rubber for new rubber. You can check with your local BMW dealership's Parts Dept (ask if they sell the rubber refill only...or give them this part number (61-61-7-438-021) and see if they offer/sell them. If they don't you can check with some of the online BMW vendors (like ECS Tuning):

The bosch icon are a good choice if you don't buy bmw brand. And are available in local stores.

I went with the complete oem set once again (blades and housing). Next time I'll just get the blades replacement from ecstuning. I also looked at removing the current bosch out of their housing but they are too wide to fit into the oem housing.

OEM. Got mine from Amazon for $42 shipped per set of front wipers.

I have found no difference in quality of wipe between the blades my dealer installed on my X5 and the Bosch ones I get at Wally World.

Don't know if you can get these in the US, but I've been using Bosch AeroTwin blades for years on all our cars, always been happy with them.
