First mod?

Looking into first mod...

Either M-Performance chip or M-Performance Exhaust... which one should I do first? I think I'll eventually do both but with tax day coming soon, I can only do one.

Which one?

I would do the exhaust and maybe skip M Performance Kit (MPPK), and Look into Race Chip or Dinan.
I installed it myself for $1200, but you can get a lot more power from others for half the cost.

I would do tune first before exhaust.
Because, tune without exhaust already have improvement.
Exhaust without a tune just for a sound.
Exhaust with a tune, will help the tune for a little more performance gain.

If you are interested in RaceChip or Dinan, PM me and I'll give you a quote.

I would pay the extra $400 or 500 more for that peace of mind with MPPK over Racechip and retain your warranty. Racechip ultimate made the biggest difference in performance but some cons were that I was also afraid of triggering CEL and having to remove it for BMW services although it only takes about 5 or 10 min. and most of that time is removing the air filter cover.

Yes I'm staying with Factory option for warranty. My car is CPO until 100k miles and I wouldn't want to worry any of that.

Looks like tune first before exhaust

I had the MPPK installed on mine and love it. A nice little bump in power and peace of mind knowing there wont be warranty issues....

Only mentioned exhaust because MPE may become scarce -thus more expensive- once F15 stops being produced.
Tuners you can find anytime.

Good point.

Any idea how much each would cost? I'm likely go thru dealer, how much should I expect labor?

MPE runs around $1150 -shipping included-for the muffler alone...I opted for different tips, the ones that come with it, are around $400...an overkill for me, but they clamp on w/no extra work needed.

Labor: an hour or so, but dealer may cost more as they may have fixed rate.
Since it's a CPO, you have to go w/them.

MPE with tips can be had for $1300 shipped.

Not anymore, at least on ebay....another member sought to buy muffler after I did, and it went up to $1060 I believe.
With labor at dealer, $1500 minimum.

bmwpartswarehouse.com has it for ~1400 shipped. Probably less if you call for a quote since shipping rates are generally inflated on websites. Sure, it's more than $1300 but doesn't require retrofitting new tips and cutting the bumper to get other tips to fit, which also adds cost.

Wait for all the lease returns on this forum. You are going to see lots of MPE for sell in the next several months.

I would do the MPPK and than MPE. and i have seen some ads for MPPK on here(classifieds) for super cheap. MPE sounds way better with MPPK.

I did MPPK when i bought the car and got MPE installed few months ago.

Tune first for sure.

I went with the race chip gts first to try it on my 2015.
Lease is up and my 2018 x5 35i is ready.

I will be installing the mppk first and than adding on the race chip gts afterwards.

Also I had purchase the burger intake.
