Brushed vs Hex Aluminium
Hey all - need some quick help on which trim to go with an F15 M Sport. I know that hex comes standard with m sport and brushed with SE. I've had brushed on an E61 and Hex on an F31 (which I've not had for 2 years).
My inkling was that brushed would look better but might scratch more easily and also is the 'base' model trim (although in other cars its an upgrade trim). Does anyone have any pics of theirs in real life - particularly where the trim is on the doors etc? Also does anyone have real world experience of scratching / issues? Ta

My Brushed Aluminum trim, X5 MSport.

Here is the BA, I recently upgraded to OEM Carbon Fiber trim kit. The BA has a couple of scratches but I wouldn’t say it scratched easily. |

At least in the U.S., there's no "base" trim -- we get 3-5 options (a few woods, and then BA and AH).
Alum Hex is exclusive to the M-Sport, so if anything, it's an upgrade. I have the hex and I love it. Both aluminum trims will probably show scratches more than a polished wood, but I find the trim is usually out of harm's way with the exception for the two console pieces that can be contacted while fastening the seat belt. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos available at the moment to share, but if it's any help, I'm in the process of getting either another F15 X5 or the G01 X3, and whenever I see inventory with faux wood on a dealer's lot, I sigh. When I see something with Alum Hex, it's a smile from ear to ear! |

Thanks for those - it's really helpful!
The BA does look nice - we're going for a glacier silver so I think it will set off nicely against that and the black leather. As I said I had AH in my F31 - I actually opted for BA but didn't double check the spec so ended up with AH - which was much nicer than I thought it was, but probably went more with the sportier looks and drive of a 330d as compared to an X5...

I really like the sporty look of the Hexagon trim, even after all this time.
Goes really well with the piano black trim portions and doesn't seem to scratch easily, from my experience.
