Changing oil before 1,200 mile service?

Anyone change the oil before the 1,200 mile service? Seems like a good idea to do after 100 or 200 miles to clear out any of the lose metal shavings?

I may be wrong, but I would not, for at least two reasons:

1. M cars are the only ones with a special early oil change scheduled at an odd mileage (1200): they may have special "first fill" additives meant to do their job within that distance - I would not try to second guess & improve this process.

2. BMW offers multiyear high mileage warranty extensions, so they have "skin in the game" to design the best maintenance schedules for long range engine health.
