Congratulations on your new car, sssmokie.
I've been readig these forums (e89, f30 and nowadays F15/16) for a while now, and this is the firs time to see that somebody ordered alcantara roof lining. I am building my new F16 and I cannot make decision regarding this option. Would you please post some pictures of the roof lining, and I'd also appreciate your personal opinion. Thx

Here are the promised pics. Overall, its a very nice soft feeling and adds coziness to the interior. Having said that, I think its a personal preference as the antracite color doesnt exactly match the black dakota and some might find that annoying.

Well, as it is still a break in period I am still not going over 3000 rpm, even though it is very tempting. On top of that, its -15 C here and icy, so i cant really test handling either.

Its the first time i drive an electric steering and despite the fact that it is precise, i miss the feedback from the wheels... The transmission is wonderful - changes are smooth and brisk. Engine is quiet for a diesel on the outside, and on the inside you have the artificial noise coming from the speakers, which will take some time to get used to. Talking about sound, Harmon Kardon is great, especially if you play some high quality music. The only thing is that I felt that i have to push the bass level almost to max to get the right sound.

I have the same feeling - the black is not really dark black. However, its the same story with my E53, so i guess its a BMW thing

Is there a M50d logo in the instrument cluster ?

HK is a great system I've had it in previous cars. Agree totally with bass comment and also boosting the lower end of the equalizer helps too!

I found the noise of the M50d very addictive during a 4day trial!!

It's certainly one of the most iconic engines BMW have made technically.

Thanks for the dash picture. I got a Mar 14 production M50d and the logo is not there, I wonder if that can be coded? Is this a recent new feature, you seem to have the extended display but nt the fully digital 6WB correct?
Having said that it is rather bright being white vs the rest of the display at night....
