Updated BMW Connected app is useful now

BMW just updated the Connected app today. Biggest part is sending destinations straight from Apple Maps or Google Maps to the car (vs using the Connected app itself). While it doesn't send the route directions if you do it in Google Maps (the car still does the route), it is significantly better in my opinion since most people search in Google Maps.

I verified it this AM on my way to work and didn't have issues. You can send it as a message to the car, or it'll pull it if you are plugged in.

• Read tutorials on how to maximize driving efficiency
• See charging station vacancy when searching for stations
• Receive a notification on the Activity tab when charging is interrupted

Just to clarify, if you select a Google route which is based on traffic jam info for example, the car will re-route it again using its own algorithm?

I don't think it will let you send the route. Only the location of the place you want to go.

Download it from the App Store onto your phone.

How does the Connected app know which car to send it too? As I have two 2018 M's, F83 & F85? To make matters even more confusing I have two phones.

I hope this update is not the root cause of my BMW Online connection outage the last few days. I can't do any updates and nothing shows in the maps split screen - weather, clock, etc.

The App can handle multiple cars and can tel the difference.

You select the car in the app. I had two cars in there when I connected my phone to a loaner. It showed my F15 and the X3 I was borrowing.

I have not found a way to send a google destination though? Still have to use the connected app for that.

If you use CarPlay and Apple Maps you can use Apple Maps on your phone to search for a destination and then share that destination with BMW NAV.

+1. i don't see the option to send destination in the Google app nor Apple Map.

Get a destination, then hit Share, you should see the Connected as an option. Just select it and you'll get another pop up to send it. You may have to hit 'More' on the pop up and turn on Connected App if you haven't done so already. That's how it works on iOS...
