Engine Oil Service Warning, but time and mileage don't match!
Happy Easter!
My 2017 X5 35d xDrive is 6 months old, and mileage is 5650. Today the warning showed up on my Infotainment screen; orange car outline with the #1 showing. Under notifications and Vehicle Status is says my Engine Oil Service is due April 2018, in 4800 miles :-O I will NOT drive 4800 miles in April. Do you think BMW will do my Engine Oil Service, or will make me wait 4800 miles, and have to drive around with the Orange warning on my screen (the car will NOT let me clear the warning & message, I have tried 3x). Thanks. |

When did you suv go into service?
BMW allows for an annual oil change regardless of mileage... but at the one yr Mark... hence the in service date question.... Sometime dealers will put the cars in service before they sell them... demos or staff cars. Etc... But those dates can be manually adjusted if the last tech set it wrong... If the inservice date checks out then just go to the dealer and have them change the date.

My car was sold to me, and put into Service Sept. 2017! I just don't want to drive around with that damn orange warning on my iDrive screen for another almost 1/2 year until BMW deems my car ready for Service. I can't understand why it would say Service due April 2018 (now!) but then say in 4800 miles. Crazy!

It’s not crazy, it’s quite logic!
In Europe, the oil change interval is every 2 years or 30.000 Km, whichever comes first. Whatever intervals are over there, they should follow the same rule, that is TIME OR DISTANCE, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. |

NO drama at all! Just curious why it says my Engine Oil Service is due now, but then says 4800 miles. To me, it is either due now OR in 4800 miles. Can't be both If it is due in 4800 miles, why would one have to drive around with an orange warning and message that cannot be cleared? That is not logical!

I would just bring the car in to get the oil change and make sure they reset the service clock. They always forget to reset my wife's car which freaks her out all the time.

I'm due for service in 10 miles (that's soon, right?) or 07/2018. So the answer above, whichever comes first, is right.
