Kidney grill install help

I just leased a new X6 and purchased a pair of black kidney grills. I have spent the past hour pulling the grills as hard as I can and they will not release. The DIY from iND says it should come off easily but it's definitely not. Any ideas? I don't want to rip off my bumper...

Couple of tips.. do it on a warm day and when the engine has warmed up
Use a hair dryer or heat gun to warm up the tabs...
Use that link to reference the photos to identify where the tabs are to work with.

I am in LA area, lol.
2.5 hours about.

We can figure those number out easily. If I am in a good mood, I'll do it for free.

Once you get the first tab popped it'll make a lot more sense...Being a lease you're probably trying to preserve the current grills, making removal more difficult. Good Luck!

Just have faith!

Pull off the rubber strip, undo four Torx screws, lift and pull the top of the bumper forward and slide your hand in. Use the new grilles to work out where the tabs are located and to work out where to apply pressure and how much and then gently pull the grille forward. You might need a flat head screwdriver to help with the clips on the slide but you might not.

I had zero faith in doing this myself and did it on a cold day but it's really a piece of piss mate.

It's not difficult at all.

Like others have said, warm up the tabs, then once the first one releases, the rest become easier.

Just don't be nervous to apply pressure. Even if the tabs break, you can just turn in the lease with the black grilles.

Those will be a headache to sell second hand 3 years from now, anyway.
