Dealer over filling oil on f15 x5 50i ??

Okay so the other day I was at my buddy’s Indy shop for BMW’s / other model cars ( haven’t been there in some time) getting tires mounted on my evo, so I mentioned to him that I just picked up a 2014 cpo x5 50i . We started talking and he mentioned about all the nuances with the 50i , so I was like yeah I have heard them all and specifically mention about them burning oil, so far for me just over 2200 miles since I got it and still at max level. He then told me that he heard that BMW was advising the dealers to overfill the engines with 1-2 extra quarts of oil so people wouldn’t comeback saying there oil was low. I would be pissed as over filling the engine is bad for it, so my question is does anybody know that if your engine was overfilled and you were to check the oil level would it actually exceed the max mark on the oil check or just read at max?? I plan on keeping a eye on my oil levels and changing at 5-6 k intervals at the most, plus my wife drives the car more then I do and drives it easier then I do. Lol

There's 2 quarts of oil between max and min on electronic screen that you get. There's also about 1/2 quart on top of max level - which is still acceptable (considering total amount is about 10qt). If you go more than that - you will get a yellow warning saying "Engine oil level too high" and it will ask you to get system checked by BMW service center.

So in short - it's just a rumor people like to tell when situation is calling

P.S. Current BMW system is smart enough to not be tricked by such low technique like overfilling it with 1-2 qt of oil

The N63 in my F10 gets the extra quart. It’s a ‘13 with the CCP and it slurps a quart every 700 miles. Keep an eye on the level and don’t hesitate to add an extra quart. Any questions consult the TSB and CCP documentation.

Nope. Fake news. If this guy was knowledgeable, he would know that adding "1 or 2 extra" quarts would bring an engine warning telling you the oil is overfilled. Both of my V8's will do this. Neither uses any oil to speak of.

Speaking of overfilling. The iDrive says to add 2 quarts when it’s low, but the bottles BMW sells are in Liter sizes.

It's close enough to assume 1:1 for topping off.
