Heated steering wheel doesn’t get as hot as it use to?

I bought my ‘14 F15 X5 last fall and all winter the heated steering wheel worked great. Even in -20c weather it would heat up within a minute and within five minutes it was getting almost too warm and I’d often turn it off. The past couple of weeks i have noticed it takes longer to warm up and never really gets that hot.

It’s almost like there are two heating elements in the wheel and one stopped working. Has this happened to anyone else? I bought used so I don’t have a warranty unfortunately.

So is it possible because it’s warmer weather and it’s got a thermostat it’s just not heating up as intensely as it was in the winter?
