2018 F15 - Love It!

I won't bore you with more pictures (I've already posted a load) but having owned the beast for five weeks and racked up 1400 miles, I'm going to be very un-British and declare my love for the X5!

Having had the F30 for five years, I'd become accustomed and bored with the interior, quick pick-up and crashy suspension, even with the ACS springs upgrade. But with this beast (I can't bring myself to call it a 'car'), I find myself just looking to go out in it, cruising instead of thrashing it and generally just looking at it in awe.

So for anyone deliberating about whether to get one before the new model, I wouldn't hesitate- just get it and enjoy!

End of enthusiastic post of the year

Had mine about 4 weeks and feel quite the same. Previous F31 30d went like stink but grew to detest the terrible msport suspension crashing out on the slightest uneven road surface.

Now with the F15 I just waft about enjoying the journey and leave the thrashing about to everyone else.

Have had mine since early 2014 and still love it! I keep thinking I should get another before the new ones come out but they wouldn't possibly make them that ugly.....right? I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.

Unfortunately that looks to be their plan.

Congrats! Can you send link to the pics? I really wonder how different idrive for 2018 is compared to 2017. Also if you have 6WB is the resolution higher than that of 2017 model. Cheers and congrats again!

I had the f31 with the adaptive suspension and never found issues with the ride quality. I'm surprised you guys hated it so.

But it's good to know you're loving the x5. I've just ordered one! Did deliberate whether to get an outgoing model but then I recall people saying that the last few cars any production line throws out are the best ones it ever makes.

Which models are you guys sporting?

Just saw your thread where your collected the car. Very nice!

I've ordered a similar one My X5 40d M Sport Glacier Silver https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1489478

Your comments are very encouraging. I've actually got a g30 530d x drive now for myself so was wondering if the tech and ride quality etc would be too inferior in the f15 x5 40d. But I've also owned the f31 330d and what you guys said about the wind noise and suspension being much better in the x5 is very encouraging. The f15 only launched a year or two after the f30 but seems to have leapt forwArds in terms of tech quite under the radar. The main differences in tech between the x5 and g30 as far as I can see are:
G30 can follow the car in front or the lane you're in.
G30 has massage seats
G30 has gesture control
G30 has remote Parking
G30 has the surround view where you can see the car as if from outside

These are all a little gimicky though and not core features.

The things I'm impressed this 2014 launched f15 spec has as compared to the 2017 g30:
The same 10" screen.
Wireless charging for phones.

Very core features...

My F31 was on standard MSport suspension and I found it terrible especially at lower speeds where I found the car very jittery and crashy. At higher speeds things improved and part of yhe reason why I think I thrashed it about so much as it felt better. However, it could not cope with the state of our UK punctured road surfaces and regularly the suspension would crash out on these surfaces. No such issues with the X5 which has a great MSport suspension setup.

We purchased our 2015 F15 X5 3.0d M Sport in May 2017 and have to say we think it is the best BMW we have had. It had 14K on the speedo and we have just hit 27K. It has Comfort seats in Smoke White which we find absolutely fantastic, can drive 300 miles to family in Dorset in one drive and arrive as fresh as we started. Currently averaging 35MPG which we are more than happy with as I don't dawdle about and enjoy the change to Sport mode to overtake as the car just leaps away.
It has the Winter pack and also Surround view which I find great when parking as you can see all the bay white lines enabling you to park dead centre!! Only had one issue where the drivers door window motor would stop during the very cold spell but that was replaced under warranty without any questions. The Professional sat nav works a treat and is very accurate with traffic updates such as road works or other hold ups, offering alternative routes. It has 20" wheels but with the standard M Sport Adaptive suspension the ride is excellent and gives a great sporty drive with the change between Comfort and Sport very noticeable.
Going in for its end of warranty check and first MOT this week but no issues that I am aware of. We do however have various slight degrees of corrosion on all four wheels which seems to be a common issue with the 469M wheels from 2014/15 and they are being checked while the car is in. Apparently they have to take all wheels off and take photo's for warranty purposes, expecting and hoping for them to be replaced under warranty as that seems to be what BMW do due it being a known issue.
Apart from that we are very pleased with our X5 and wanting to keep with it for at least another year.

I have pretty much exactly the same 40d as you and I love it too!
Comming from a 2014 30d and a 2016 40e, the 40d is by far the best.
The 2014 30d was first year F15 and had a few noises from the the interior etc that I hated, the 40e was a total disaster. The 40d is sooo solid!

Suspension was squishy, lots of rattles and squeaks, battery was a TOTAL JOKE....maybe 5-10 miles on all electric, and then you drive around in a shitty 4 cylinder engine trying to move and power a full size X5. Hated it!
