HP increase
What is the most hp increase you can get out of a 35i xdrive? I want more power with least amount of headache. I know some are going stay I should have gone with the 50i or M. I wanted the fuel efficiency and reliability and its was cheaper lol.

You should have gone with the 50i if that's what you're wanting.
Many piggy back tunes available for the 35i but just remember there have been very different experiences with tuning . Search and you'll see. Still under warranty ? If yes, and you don't want headaches, leave it be. Or look into MPPK |

More power with less headache would be stacking up that MPPK with RaceChip Ultimate.
Muffler is more for sound. Air Intake is not helpful unless you are running Catless Downpipe and more aggressive tune. Catless Downpipe will cause check engine light unless you are going with more aggressive tune. More aggressive tune will gives you more headache.

50i, fuel mileage is negligible.

probably trade in for an X5M. Least amount of headache for sure.

I've been running MPPK + RaceChip setting at D with no headaches for the past two years on my 35i.

I just traded in my less than 1 year old 35i for a CPO Elite 50i. After owning the 50i in the E70 and dropping back to the 35i, I regretted it everyday even after the MPPK. My wife thinks I'm nuts but at least I'm happy now

I'm in an E70 50i right now and at some point will replace it with another X5, either an F15 or the G05. 35i's are more abundant (buying used) and less $ but even with MPPK, Racechip, etc. I'm worried I would not be happy with the power. I would definitely miss the V8 sound. We'll see I guess.. |

Assuming you can treat it just like any other 135, 335 or 535, you can make crazy power for WAY less money than what's available to the V8 engines. Granted the power will be peaky, but go watch videos and do some reading if what the N54/N55 guys are capable of...that engine is no slouch when the wick is turned up.

jiggz be it the F15 or the G05 go for the V8 twin turbo!! I have much respect for the N55 and the new B58. It's just that the X5 has a great deal of weight to move and you need that monster torque from that V8TT!! There's always Eco-Pro mode to save gas every now and then.

you won't be satisfied until you switch to a M car. No joke.

A lot of the e90 guys with the N55 are getting ~450rwp with FBO and a JB vs other tune. Same engine so I imagine we'd get the same results.
That said, I just purchased the MPPK for my wife's BMW X5 because we wanted to stay within warranty. And with my FBO 335i, ended up having to increase the frequency of oil changes, change the plugs / coils more frequently, had a lot of troubleshooting at the beginning until I got all the kinks sorted out, and the car was quick, but not nearly as smooth as you may want. Lots of fun, but lots of time / work needed. I think I'll probably just stick with the MPPK. I have to research the RC before I decide on jumping on that -- more power, no doubt, but I don't have any specifics on how it works (basically just a boost controller? if so, what boost are we hitting? I'm assuming ignition timing is adjusted based on stock maps?)

At one point, you'll get used to the 50i power and crave the X5M. My situation right now

JB4 is a piggyback system that offers more performance for those looking to have a learning curve, then there's Flash Tune (for ex; Bootmod3, Enzo, etc) which optimizes your ECU the proper way (Adjust parameters in the ECU/DME where other tunes can't touch). And last there's those that already have JB4 and need a ECU Flash to properly balance the AFR target/Timing parameters stacked with jb4 for boost control. Quote:

The N55 in Fxx series is seeing anywhere from 360-395whp to 400-470wtq on 93 octane, those adding E85 (1-6 gals) blends can see a little higher number, better octane = better for car. With Meth these cars on stock turbo just hit 446whp 570wtq on a F30 335 at 21psi. Having RaceChip in my X3 for 2yrs (no issues); but then using jb4 for 6 months on my current X4 N55 and now Bootmod3 (Flash) since December I can tell you big difference in all 3. Power Delivery; Smoothness, Car Throttle; etc

After Dinan --> PROcede --> JB3 --> Cobb, I was still having misfires here and there, I had black smoke puff out of my BOV all the time, started having a little smoke out the tailpipe, etc. More issues than it was worth... I just want more power that is 100% reliable.

Misfire = plugs/hpfp nowadays and easy to see in a log when its happening, able to log Knock thanks to BM3 is IMPORTANT! If you're starting from scratch, BM3 is the way to go for me. - Resale value / transfer your License to your next BMW as well - Being able to flash via your phone or laptop (free App) - Being able to go to any tuner or use the provided FREE OTS Map - Being able to fully datalog every channel as the ECU is seeing it without a data gap - Customer Service + Support from PTF via Support Ticket is phenomenal - As of late all World Record cars are running BM3 as flash only or BEF - Having 0 wires running around in the engine bay, no more short-circuits, or boards going bad proTUNING Freaks also made their name in the N54 via Cobb ProTune Maps , seeing how they've taken the S55 engine (F80 platform) to a whole other level makes me want to stay with BMW for as long as they're around. Not only to mention, the price is the most fair out of everything i've come to see. -$595 BM3 License with a Free OTS Map included -BM3 for Android/iOS is Free or use Chrome on your laptop/tablet via http://bootmod3.net - $18-20 OBD2 to Enet cable is needed to Flash/Datalog, use all the features that are being updated (Code Reading, Code Clearing, etc) - + Labor depending on your BM3 Dealer of choice that will bench flash your ECU (Unlocking for OBD2 access and reading your stock map)
