BMW X5M review - Reviewer with great sense.

Finally, a reviewer with sense. Cadillac V better than BMW M? We don't think so. Cadillac isn't doing tootgood selling Vs last time i checked.
Enjoy.

From everything that I've read, Cadillac V-series are very very good. And the M3/M4 this gen has been dissapointing to say the least. X5M and the M2 are now considered the best in the series, so things seem to be improving for BMW. Look forward to seeing the new M5.

Thanks for the review. I always liked this guy.

200 mph
Skid 1g
All stock
Makes m3/m4 look like a go kart

I would take reviewers with a grain of salt. they sit in a car for a couple of hours and think that that's all there is to know. sometimes they get it spot on, and sometimes, the reviews are completely off.

I have both the x5m and the m3. this is my 4th M car and the m3 is the best one I have ever had. It takes more time to get to know the car vs the x5m with the settings and the throttle vs the older m3 generations.

the x5m is an amazing beast that impresses you when get first sit in it. over time the zf transmission is no DCT or PDK and the wheel bearing as well as the brake squeak can be very annoying. I just test drove the Porsche Macan GTS and I was blown away, it is an amazing compact suv. It doesn't have the brute force of the x5m but the car is very very progressive and linear- steering, handling, and engine. I was amazed by the pdk as well.

If I had to keep one car and don't need the space, I'd keep the m3 no question.

In regards to the cts-v - I would watch the motortrend review vs the lexus gs-f. Obviously, the CTS-V is a great car, and deserves praise, the motortrend guys have now driven it a few times and found the transmission to be annoyingly slow/inconsistent, with 1st gear changes hitting the rev limiter before the shift changes.

How can this guy compare the X5M with the Cayenne GTS ?

To be fair , he needs to put head to head the X5M with the Cayenne Turbo S.

Same power , but slightly different in price LOL

I had a couple of Cayennes as loaners, and I don't think it's even in the same ballpark as the X5M. Performance wise maybe, everything else, no.

Long term Car and Driver review of the F80 M3 was seventeen months, and the staff liked it less and less the longer they owned it. Glad you like yours though--thats all that matters in the end.

Interesting about the Macan. Think that will be a big seller. Wife won't let me buy one though due to the aloof brand perception.

my main three complaints with the cayenne is the insane button layout. on a new vehicle not having some sort of mmi/idrive set up is bonkers especially when porsche feels the need to make one button for every possible function. the other the silly nonfunctional and unfashionable quarter window on the front doors. lastly, it isn't all that attractive from the front. excessively aggressive in the front and conservative in the rear and from the side.

good point, the complaints they had mostly come down to the rough ride. they drive the car on michigan roads. I don't have that issue in Southern CA. 20k miles already and no problems, my x5m has less than 3k miles and I have issues.

This is my 3rd x5 and all of them have had some type of reliability problem so I was expecting this.

on a side note 2 of c and d corvette engines had grenaded, so at least I am not having that problem.

i am test driving the 2017 cayenne gts tomorrow so i will see about your points. the 2017 has the updated nav, and interface. doesn't not have the pdk, but this car is for my folks so it doesn't matter.

i actually don't like the new panamera layout with the haptic buttons, since you can't feel your way around the console without looking

edit- i think they actually made the rear and quarters more aggressive since the lci.

I like the updated version of the Cayenne , but I really didn't like the one before this model.

The new Cayenne looks too feminine to me, and I really don't like the tail lights. I liked the previous version better.

+1. But I'm not sure it's a version issue, as opposed to a Porsche options issue.

I'm sure you could make this one more aggressive looking (and Porsche would let you), but your wallet would be much lighter, to the tune of $15K-25K lighter.

My buddy at Porsche says the same. He says that the only models geared to look masculine are the GTS and Turbo models. Not sure why this GTS looks so "unsporty".

Yeah, the GTS versions usually look pretty good (even sportier than the Turbos), not sure what it is about this one. The tail lights are still not my favorite, though.

hahaha, funny, I will a create a storm with this but everyone will try to justify why its mobile is the best, in other words... "Im so smart that I only spend my dollars in the best" anyone who dare to say the opposite will be vanished...haha, I bet you that if you ask someone who bought a Yugo will tell us that that was the most smart and better car around, much better than a X5M, why!!!??? because for the price of a X5M you can buy a new one every 6 months for six years, spare parts price are 1% relation, can take us to the same places that you guys reach on a X5M, in fact Ill be more comfortable off roading hitting all the suspension and even hitting a rock! at the end of the day the whole suspension costs the price of your emblems... 0 to 60 I can do it in 20secs and what?? hahaha after writing this Ill be looking for a Yugo, not bad idea at all... hahahaha (anyway I love my X5M!!)
