Another winter tire question
So after moving from a 2015 X5 M sport to a 2018 X6 5.0 I'm having conflicting reports on using my old winter tire setup as it's almost brand new.
Went to a squared 19 setup with the following specs.... 19X9 , 5x120 , (offset/deport 43) , 74.1 So some say they'll fit....others say I may need help in the back with hub rings and others have said offset if completely wrong. As this place seems to be a fountain of information I was hoping to get the straight story. Thoughts? Last edited by Blassy67; 08-27-2019 at 12:30 PM.. |

Play around with the calculators on this website - it should help you get a better idea if this is a possibility...

Are they BMW or aftermarket rims? F15 and F16 share a lot in common, so chances are you should be able to run them without issue. Center bore and lug pattern are definitely the same. And nothing wrong with running a square config for you winters. Only question is your offset, but I don't think that would be a significant issue. If so spacers should take care of it, but you don't need hub rings.

I use X6 rims on my X5 as a winter setup. Cant remember if they are staggered rims, but the rear offset is different than the front. You might need spacers in the front or back to run the X5s on an X6. No issues using them 2 winters so far.

The e70 & e71 (X5M & X6) models are the ones that have a split axle hub size difference (front is 74.1mm & rear is 72.56mm). So when using e70 X5M wheels or e71 X6 wheels...you have to know that the front and rear wheels have different hub sizes. If you're looking at f15/f85 (X5/X5M) & f16/f86 (X6/X6M)...then all the wheels have the same hub size. The e70 X5M/f15 X5/f85 X5M rear wheels have a lower wheel offset range...so they will stick further out of the wheel well (many like that better)...so do use a tire/wheel size calculator to see how much further these wheels will protrude out toward the fender vs your oe wheels.

Thanks for all the help.
X5 was a 1015 Msport with staggered set up but I went squared 19 for winters. New truck is a 2018 X6 Msport 5.0 with same staggered 20 setup so think I should be OK. 19's look tiny in the winter so if they protrude a bit I won't hate it. |

As an aside......
We've had the truck for 3 months. My wife was coming home few nights ago and sitting at a red light behind an empty flatbed. Guessing she got distracted and her foot came off the break and that engine tends to make that car move without foot on break faster than our old X5. Yadda yadda...new hood (had 2 puncture holes) , lower grills, kidney grills to the tune of 9K later. Thank god it's a lease. |
