WOW if I read these delivery terms...

Mine was ordered on 11th of February and is due 12th of September. That's 7 months of wait time for a 540e...

Ooh well the wait is almost over but I might just missed the MY17 updates.
It's like pokemon... you can't catch them all

I ordered my X5 40e on 8/3. It just showed up in the My BMW online profile today. The Track My BMW status is: "We are currently processing your order and will inform you once your BMW enters production." Maybe I'll get it mid-September? I'm glad to hear people are getting theirs soon. I would love to see pictures. I hope I don't have a blue grille!

I don't THINK we're getting the blue grills yet. The last I heard they were being added in December for undeclared reasons.

Also: it appears that my VERY weird bug with the My BMW site is fixed and I can see the vehicle status finally!

Hi, does the MY17 Built x5 with the new touch screen, come with idrive5 or is it the 4? Strangely, my dealer cannot answer that definitively.

That said, I've checked the official site (www.fueleconomy.gov) and now see all of the trims EXCEPT the 40e have been assigned ratings. I would guess that they should start leaving the VPC soon.

...back to waiting I go...

Nope. Mine was built on 8/3, arrived at the VPC on 8/5...and then nothing. My CA has said that they usually see a vehicle arrive at the VPC then a day or two later the VPC will start a "work order" for the vehicle. They have typically seen a vehicle arrive at the dealer a week after the work order starts. At this point, I've been waiting almost four weeks for this work order to start...but I think I've pieced together what's holding things up and it lines up with what others have said in this thread.

Short version:
The EPA has not released the 40e fuel economy information yet.

Long version:
In the US, you cannot sell a new car without the window sticker (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monroney_sticker). I'm guessing that BMW requires the window sticker to be ready before the VPC can start the work order. It makes sense to me that any country specific labeling would be affixed in the VPC for a particular country/region rather than in the factory. So...holding to this theory, BMW won't let the VPC start the work order on my 40e until the EPA releases the 40e's fuel economy numbers.

You can check the EPA site (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.shtml) and see that the 2017 X5 xDrive40e isn't listed yet as of 8/31/2016. The database updates every Friday morning so that's when I pop over to check if the 2017 40e is there yet. Once it's listed, I'll start pestering BMW to see if the work order has started.

I'm in the same boat as athanyel. Mine finished on 8/12 and has the same engineering release hold. I guess I'm more impatient though, I've been harassing my CA non stop trying to get info, to to his credit he keeps harassing BMWNA but they are pretty stingy with the info. The car I'm trying to replace just had the rear shock mount go out, and the "boss" is getting impatient. If it doesn't get cleared soon I've been told we are getting a GLC 300 instead.

BMW is now saying my X5 should be at the dealer on 9/8 but the VPC work order still hasn't started. I am hoping (and it's likely blind hope) that this means BMW NA somehow knows the EPA will release the 40e data this week.

We ordered my wife's MY17 X6 in June, it went into production in SC on August 1, the next update we received was on August 26th, that it was on a train headed to Frankfurt, Germany. (About an hour from our dealer) Never received any notification, nor did I ask for any since the cars ordered directly through BMW AG do not show in the USA website for tracking. It arrived at our dealer from Frankfurt the evening of 30 August. In dealer prep for delivery tomorrow afternoon!
They sent me a pic yesterday of it fresh off the truck. I'll post some pics of it tomorrow!

Today my vehicle is out of production and is now: "Your vehicle was released to a carrier and is awaiting transportation to the port of exit."

Athanyel, have you heard anything more about your vehicle? Did you get it a couple of days ago?

Not yet but there's good news: I was able to verify that the engineering data hold was been released when I stopped by the dealer on Thursday.

I called BMW CS last night and they said that the VPC work order had started and finished on 9/8. On a humorous note, knowing what BMW's vehicle tracking system looks like apparently can spook some of the reps. You can ask them things like "the circle next to VPC work order started is actually green?" The rep I was talking to got quiet for a bit and asked "how can you see my screen?"

Once the work order completes at the VPC, the carrier is instructed to pick up the vehicle. With any luck, my 40e is on a truck and on it's way.

Did you speak to your dealer recently? Is it still months from now? I've spoken to many dealers here in southern calif and they believe production should start anytime this month or next, but again no one seems to know as BMW has not yet released any info on diesel production yet. The last I heard BMW is simply waiting to sell the 40e inventory they have and then will start 35d production.
