Just picked up X5 yesterday
I will post a detailed thread tomorrow about my experience so far but I have 2 questions for the forum.
1. When I turn the car off and get out the radio stays on until a certain amount of time or until I lock the car. In every other German car I have owned the radio turns off when I open the door. Is this a setting? 2. Does anyone know why the ventilated seats go from 3 bars to 2 after a certain period. I turn ventilation on full blast and after a while I looked down and it was only on 2 bars instead of 3. I changed it back to 3 and after another period it would go to 2. |

1) Yea, press start button twice. I don't think there is a setting for this, but if you decide to code your car then you can change this behavior.
2) I noticed this too, but I thought I was just going crazy! |

1. Yeah, having previous BMW's where one long push on the ignition button would shut everything down, this bugged me for awhile. But I got used to it. It's not something you can change in settings.
2. That's normal. Mine does it too. Don't know why. Just another "feature".

Even when I park the car in the garage, I lock the doors since it shuts off all the electronics.

2. Yes at some point the ventilated seats figure out they suck and aren't doing much and automatically drop down a speed. Yes I am not a fan of them. Pardon the pun!

You can code the radio to shut off when the door is opened, and you can code the ventilated seat fans to run at higher speeds. Not sure if you can code the seats to stay on the high setting.

Have you coded for the ventilation seats to run at a higher speed? Any difference?

What values did you use when coding the new temps? Did you stick with the ones in the coding cheat sheet or use your own?

Update now that I have had the car for a week. Forgot to mention in the tint post that I got the MPPK installed yesterday as well. It's a noticeable difference and I am glad I did it. Called 2 dealers, one quoted 150 for the install the other quoted 500.
All in all I love the car. The few things that are a negative for me are the steering, it is very loose and Lexus like as many have stated. For me it does stay on track unlike what I have read from others. Before trading in the cayenne I drove down the highway at 80, hands off the wheel and it stayed straight. The x5 did the same. I didn't have to correct it, the looseness is when turning compared to my cayenne. I have had both the GTS and the v6 and the steering was much better on both. The ventilated seats are not great either. I am still glad I got them because it keeps me from getting super hot but they don't get cold like my old cayenne or my wife's 40k Acadia. Lastly the Dakota leather seats are not very comfortable. I would have expected more for a 72k vehicle. Overall I do like the car and would recommend it to anyone. I still have to get the Sport exhaust installed and will update again after that. |
