I believe that maybe the case.

I'm debating a X5 order at the moment and was considering the Mocha Nappa option or Individual Merino, and when I mentioned possible ventillated as well, sales guy said go with the Merino if you opt for vented seats rather than the Nappa.

Does anybody know what it would take to retrofit the ventilated seat(s), or if it is even possible? I have the black M Package Seats, but down here in Houston I would really appreciate some extra ventilation...

I seen a video on YouTube about it, wasn't specific to the X5 but showed how to do it.
Just type in retrofit ventilated seat it should pop up. It looks like it is pretty labour intensive. Have to pull out your seats and remove the upholstery, cut out foam and and run the equipment. Might be more work than most are willing to do.

Correct. The center, perforated section is Dakota.

Incorrect, the center section is still Nappa even when perforated.

Is it? Where did you get that info from? I have both and it feels very Dakota-like.

Either way if this guy is still looking for the ventilated seats he can have mine if he's got the Napa seats cuz I hate them and would love the others just for their look alone. Haha

Agreed, non-perforated looks a ton better!

I have it, the perforated section is still smooth like Nappa (not pebbled like Dakota), it is just very perforated.

Also here if you don't want to take my word for it:

I probably didn't look close enough. I'll compare them later. Thanks for that!
