2016 X5 35i with DINANTronics SPORT

I just install this performance tuner. Very easy install less than 5 minutes.
Seems a bit more peppy on acceleration in comfort mode and in sport mode seems to be also more responsive.
Too early to tell. But it was inexpensive and easy to install so I went for it.
It says it can be stack with the MPPK so if combined you get more or less 40-50 more HP and 70-80 of torque it might give this X5 some new life.
To bad bad they still have not put out the app for IOS to get this out of Sport + mode and into the RACE mode.
Hopefully they app is out ASAP.

Thanks for the comments. But The Dinan is less expensive and same power gains with out the MPPK. Not looking to make this car a rocket just a bit more fun to drive.

dianan is less expensive than $380 plus and play/resellable tune????

tell me where you found a deal like that (unless you work for dinan test center)

Mppk is $1000 and as far as i knoiw dinan is around $3k, one of the most expensive tunes on the market (because of warranty)

you are being a bit contradictory, you say not a rocket and at the same time you want race mode...

I am putting together table with different chips.
It should help me to decide what to put on top of mppk.
I'll post it once I finish so it may be useful for somebody.

Race mode extract the full potential of the Dinan Sport Tuner. Not that my X5 is going to put 1000hp but at least a bit more fun to drive...

Its a Dinan Piggyback tune similar to Racechip and other tunes out there. Also this particular tune is not backed by the warranty Dinan is known for... be sure to read the fine prints.

I wouldn't call it "fine print" when its noted twice on the product page. Once in bold and in red/orange no less. And clearly and comprehensively differentiated in the linked comparison page to the Elite version of the tuner. =)

Don't take my comment about the "fine print" the wrong way.. When I wrote "fine print" I meant it to say to pay attention to what is being advertised and what is not. Most consumers will automatically think Dinan = matching factory warranty and more than likely overlook this critical information and I was just making it aware that this is not the case here.

i know that, dinan warranty is generally for ecu flash somewhere not plug and play. but comparing apples to apples with other tunes the price is pretty good.

granted that a a used JB stage 1 can be picked up for $150

In most cases... Price is relative to the performance output...
Check out the chart posted above... Racechip ultimate puts out almost double what Dinan's does and so the price reflects that

on paper, in real world all these tunes do pretty much the same thing. again "stage 1's"
on f15 x5 you cant really go crazy as much as on 335.

from my experience, real world performance is almost identical, i stuck with JB products for past 7-8 years because of forum member testing, ease of install is super competitive pricing for what you are getting. i like dinan but never could spend 3k on a tune, thats why i was surprised to learn that they have a cheaper version.

the chart is wrong BTW, most tuners add wheel HP and chart just adds whp to total crank. crank HP is roughly 20-22% higher (awd drive-train loss is higher than rwd of 15%)

make sure you compare apples to apples, you adding WHP to Crank HP, in f15 awd there is 20-22% difference (drive train loss)

You can not compare dinan's stage 1 tune $2,000 with a piggyback chip tune $300..
And by referencing the performance gains as advertised on their website, RCU is still roughly double the gains...

Another thing to keep in mind is some of these devices are advertising their deltas from the factory ratings and not from a measured baseline. And its pretty clear in the current generation everything is underrated to some extent. Basically some advertised "gains" are artificially inflated. The fact of the matter is when you only plug into a single sensor (or 2) you can only change 1 variable so no matter the device if it supposedly adds, say +3.0 PSI, it will be the same power output. The only real difference will be in build quality, warranty, additional features (BT, choices of maps, etc), and slight tuning differences as to when and where boost comes in and goes.

Greatly put.
I want to add, customer and dealer support are a plus too.

I agree with you on this and no one really knows unless they have dyno'd their vehicle before and after the installs. Has Dinan done this yet?

I didn't see the N20 graph. Will this work with the 40e?

Are there plans to back the product with the normal Dinan warranty once CARB certification is achieved?
