You basically needed a fridge, and it definitely looks like one, so congrats on a great choice!

LOL.

I know Merc makes a great product but I have never been enticed by the brand. I've always thought that I'm not old enough to own a Merc.

Anyhow, OP, congrats on new ride, enjoy.

Beautiful new ride. I don't see many Iridium Silver ones around, so great color choice. The G is a class and beast of its own.

The AMG variant looks gnarly, but if given the choice, I would've gone for the G550. Something about a tricked-out truck looks a bit off to me. No doubt the additional power, designo seats, and 20" wheels all add to the appeal, but the G550 seems sufficient.

Enjoy the new ride! Post more photos for some of us G Klasse fans.

Thanks Kanvas. My 2016 was a G550, and it was great. Wanted a 63 this time around, but would have been so fine in a silver 550!
Our local dealer had 109, yes 109 Gs in stock and not a single Iridium Silver. Other close by dealers had 5-15 in stock each, no silver. I was so lucky to find ONE silver in local Beverly Hills. Love, love the colour!!

Not "wealthy", but we love cars and know one day we might not have the funds....so enjoying it now!! Maybe one day we will be in a Camry or Accord, but we can think back fondly about all our Rolls, Bentleys, Porsches, Rovers, BMWs, MBZs....Life is short. Make everyday fun, exciting and happy!!

Question for OP: did you take the car to the dealer and what was the feedback about AC problems?

As the others on this forum who have complained to their dealers about the performance of the F15 AC (I believe even 1 or 2 got a buy back assistance)...it is always the same thing....
Performing to factory specs (as they tell you this with sweat running down their faces and wet shirts :-O Their fix: Roll the windows down, turn the AC to MAX, blah, blah, blah

For me it was also that the roof inside/headliner, panorama roof, dashboard and windshield somehow amplified the hot temps and then would NOT release the heat!! It was this way in my '17 40e and '17 35d. If I lived in a cooler state or part of the world, then I would say the A/C would be adequate in my F15.

But we have had tons and tons of cars, price points from $5,000 to $560,000 and I have never had a car like the F15 that would get so hot, stay so hot inside and the A/C would dribble on AUTO (even set to 66F and blower intensity to MAX and wheel all the way to blue!

Love the climate control in my G63. ONE button...AUTO! Set to 72F. Blows max and ice cold when hot inside, and then kicks down the blower. When cool in the morning...it blows gentle and tepid or warm. AUTO climate control actually working like AUTO climate control

Thanks for sharing the details. 2015 X5 is another vehicle in our family. No problems with A/C. So I suppose this is quite fortunate.

This is absolutely a legitimate reason to get rid of a car.
Ever since I got my first one in '98, I have one rule:
cruise and climate control must be present and running properly.
And that applies to any climate.

What? You don't like having a hot/cold wheel for each vent and a fan speed for the auto? What's wrong with you?

LMAO! I know, right? Who wants AUTO climate control that does not just use an AUTO button?! It's awesome having 17 steps to use the climate control, and even better having to go thru iDrive and turn off the A/C for rear passengers so the driver does not get heat stroke! Oh BMW!!!

Again, one should NOT have to disable rear AC to try, or keep the car cool. Horrible for rear seat passengers
Especially with a 1 year old in the back because he WILL let you know. So deal with a screaming 1 year old or sweaty balls. #dadlyfe

I'm part of the shitty AC club as well.

Sp sorry you too! Dad club as well, but my little one is now 11.

Still cannot understand why some F15s have such crap climate control. Our '17 M6 behaves just like our two G63s....AUTO and it starts FULL power and stays that way until the cabin temp is reached!

I miss the mpg of my 35d, but we are now about a week into 90-95F, and man....I am loving my ice box G-Class!

I must be one of the lucky ones. My wife always tells me she’s freezing when she sits in the back with our 1 year old, so it seems my AC works great. I also have the cooled seats, which are really nice.

I have no complains either. Maybe the EU Spec cars have a different cooling algorithm.

Maybe, although while there are several "hot" EU countries a large region of the USA has 6+ months of extreme heat every year, and it is well known that Americans really, I mean really, love A/C. I would imagine a BMW made in S. Carolina would have great A/C...especially considering my last 5-6 X5s had perfect AUTO climate and A/C. Strange!
Even stranger is that while so many F15 owners complain about poor A/C performance and endless heat from the dashboard, glass windshield and roof area...many say it is great. It is either wild inconsistencies in quality control, or some people just do not feel and register heat the same. I am one that when it gets to 80F outside, I feel that I am dying! LOL

I changed my Honda Accord (EU Spec - similar to Acura TSX over there) which had 2 zone climate control, for the F15 with 4 zone climate and ventilated seats.
I really feel like the car's A/C does it's job flawlessly, I keep everything on Auto and set the Auto Fan Speed on the middle setting (3 out of 5).

When compared to the Accord (TSX), I would say that F15 does cool down faster, despite a much bigger interior, and the fact that you can actually adjust the max fan speed in Auto is a nice cool feature that I did not have before.

As for the temperatures, I don't think it matters if the weather is hot 2 or 6 months per year.
Here where I drive, the temperature during the day goes above 86F from April till September, with hottest days above 100F.

I found myself with the same opinion... supposedly the GL wagons are a bit more reliable with their TT V8 and respond the same to flash tunes, so I was going to get one instead... unfortunately it rode like a 25 year old Cadillac, the interior wasn't user friendly, the stereo took an engineering degree to figure out phone pairing, and I felt like everything was substantially cheaper than the X5. Power was on point, but it wasn't enjoyable to drive. I couldn't find a single thing that made me say "this car will work for a while" and left with the X5 that day.

That being said, I definitely rock a G-wagon... but it would have to be as a fun car, not a daily.

Until the new e-class I agree with you. The Mercedes interiors have never done it for me. The new e-class (I've not driven an s-class) is a really nice car with, I think, a beatiful interior. We rented for a last year for a trip in France, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium. I was quite impress. If I was shopping for a sedan, I'd personally give the e-class a look instead of just buying another BMW sedan.

I've driven a S-Class for a weekend and the interior is top notch. I'd imagine the new E is very close from pics I've seen. BMW interiors are nowhere on the level of MB with the exception of a few models. The GLE is pretty dated. And I've heard nothing but bad things on the CLA/GLA
