iDrive screen removal

Hello Guys

Just took my X5 to the car wash today and noticed some stains on the surface of the idrive screen that the car wash guys left... I wiped them one hour later and to my dismay the spots remained... They were like shiny spots under certain light conditions... I want to remove the idrive screen to see them up close... So does anyone know what to do? It wont come off with a wet MF towel... !

Also is there a DIY on how to remove the idrive screen?

Thanks!
JC

Like....the whole display or the actual LCD screen? You won't find anything for the LCD screen - that's like telling IFixIt to take apart your laptop, phone, etc. Consider your warranty for that gone if you take that apart yourself.

Hmm try using eye glass cleaner cloth and see if that works. Maybe even apply some windex.

I was thinking about this screen and how to protect it and thought since I put on screen protectors for my iPhone I thought why not for the iDrive screen. I'm thinking about getting it costum fit.

Here you go, my friend: https://copy.com/MrTgRfQjLGmXXieP. Everything you need to remove the iDrive is in there. Here are the steps (each document is listed inside for each step):

1) Remove the plastic cover piece around your instrument cluster (KOMBI)

2) Remove the main center dash trim piece

3) Remove the iDrive display

If anyone orders one of these (several on Amazon with no photos and this one with photo from Aliexpress) please provide a review for the rest of us.
