I guess I will have to do this upon taking delivery of my X5, then no paint correction is needed, right?
You mean after it comes off? No. There is no yellowing with OptiCoat Pro. It's just a very hard (9h) ceramic clear coating over your paint.

No I meant when we first get it, I see jr mentioned paint correction and opticoat, I wonder if it would cost less if the vehicle is right off the factory.

Maybe. I'm not sure regarding his vehicle. Maybe he had swirls or something that needed correction before the OptiCoat was put on.

Golden Horn, every car that get delivered may have swirls or small scratches, especially black. If it was me, I would tell dealership not to take factory wrapping off paint and leave it on until you opticoat it. Trust me when I tell you, every dealership has a 18 to 24 yo who thinks he's the gift to detailing and in reality he's the reason professional detailers are in business. Yes, I have OCD issues.......

$900 for coating? Can't you just purchase the product $59.00 https://detailersdomain.com/Optimum-...CC_p_1073.html from his website and apply them yourself?

Technically....you could. Before you step into that jungle of unknown, the opticoat forums are great place to learn/start : http://optimumforums.org/.

$700-900 is the typical price though for paint protection coating of this kind if getting it done by an approved detailer.

Being in New England the clear film protectors are a must. Does opticoat offer this type of protection or is it more about swirl marks from car washes?

Thanks Opasha! Unless apply this chemical liquid to our cars requires some sort of technical skill that I don't understand and something similar to Expel wrapping then I am not sure why it would cost so much over the actual cost of the product... Maybe it is time consuming and some people don't have the patience but to save $900 I am willing to learn and do it myself
I will read up on that link and figure it out

That's the consumer-grade version you linked Kzang . The $900 job uses the Pro version, which is only available to authorized (and presumably trained) detailers.
Also check out Autopia.org. There's a specific section called "Click'n'Brag" that shows before and after shots, many including sealing with OC Pro.
Definitely try the Gloss Coat if you're a DIYer and also interested in saving $$.
The key is in the prep. Full polish/correction to remove any swirls first. Yes, even a brand new car has swirls installed by the dealer during prep. It's a no-cost option.

This is the route I've been waiting to take, but a little sports injury has pushed this out a while.

opti coat doesnt protect your paint from chips or scratches, xpel or 3m will do it (film)

opti coat help prevent swirls, gives the "wet look" shiny paint plus its easier to keep the car clean eventually it wears out and last about 6 months

paint correction can be swirls, or haze or hologram. If the car is comes wrapped in white film, u may have areas where paint may look dull.

dealership will wash it but that wont help, it may need a detail.

i got it detail within a month and you will see the difference.
