Find a good indy or DIY them yourself. $1700 is preposterous. It's a straightforward process but you'll run into issues with space since everything is so tight in the engine bay. You're going to have to undo some stuff to allow for extra room to shimmy the hoses out.

Helpful video with good intentions but a little misinformed. There’s no need to remove the air filters from the air box. The whole unit pops off. They’re only secured by push down grommets. I also recommend disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery because you will probably have to disconnect some sensors to get extra space. If you decide to remove the black cover that the DME cables are clipped to (again, for extra room to meanuever), theres a ground screw on the passenger side rear corner. I touched my screwdriver against the screw that mounts the intake boot against the turbo and it sparked. Ran and disconnected the battery right away LOL. Better safe than sorry.

Garage List
good luck with the project. I've moved on from the X5M, but it was one of the most enjoyable vehicles i have ever owned. I traded for a GLE 63S and kept that for 2 months. Now have settled in with a Cayenne GTS

RE; the above, you dont need to pull the airlifters from the airbox to remove it. Just simply disconnect the MAF, clamps and pull up. Those central bots hold the clip in thing, the same as the ones on the sides. You can gently pry on each side first, pop the box off slightly and then do the middle last

The earth cable mentioned is on the back of that black cable tray, where it bolts to the engine. Do Not Forget to bolt these back.

Also the +Terminal that cause the spark mention above is this cable. It is live, put a rag/be careful around it or disconnect battery.

They do have a really good deal $225 for 3 years of oil changes, once a year or 10,000 miles. I've had my X5M F85 for about 5 months. I was actually very happy after getting it back, the X5M is running much smoother and seems to be quieter idling. So even though this was a small amount of work, it ended up costing $1000.

The not so good news, is they tell me these CCV hoses need to be replaced and I agree. But they are going to charge me around $t1700. They were kind enough to show me videos of the broken CCV hoses. They also noted some oil leakage in the engine and I did recently have to add a quart of oil because it was low.

I am a relative newbie to working on my cars. On my old X5 I did replace air suspension bags and compressor successfully. Would like to save a lot of money and have the satisfaction of a DIY.

The oil leaking said they would need to diagnose, whenever you hear that, you know it is big bucks. Would it be a fair thing to try to DIY the CCVs hoses and see if it solves the oil leaks and then go for broader diagnosis if there are still leaks? How hard is this to do?
This work is time consuming but not very difficult. Definitely doable for the average enthusiast. If you haven't already done so, it would be prudent to consider replacing the intake boot while tackling the CCV hoses as the intake boot WILL fail and break off along the weak points. It is only a matter of time.

Thanks Bobby, I have the CCV and intake boots. TBH, Little nervous to start but does look mostly straightforward. Never is the first time, but I think I know what needs to be done. I am hoping it fixes the oil leak, maybe wishful thinking.

CCV hose replacement may help. Let us know how it goes.

OK. Having a bit of a problem. I got to the rotating the hose CCW on passenger side, but I am not able to turn it far enough, it is hitting the hose bridge. Do I need to move the bridge somehow? If so, how? I did see in the above video that he did move it but he did not give any instructions on how to do that.

Just unscrew the bridge and push it back a little, it’s just enough to get the hoses out.
