PCD delivery!

Tomorrow we head for Spartanburg to take delivery of our new X5. It seems like its been a long process to get to this point!

I am really looking forward taking a tour of the plant as well. I was there for the grand opening celebration in 1994. It was a great party then and I know many changes have been made since.

I spent most of my working career as a supplier to the OEM's, including BMW. I love the entire car building process. It is the ultimate (IMHO) in engineering to be able to build such a complicated machine in hours with components from all over the world and be able to drive it off the assembly line. To see it is amazing.

I'm excited (maybe you can tell)!

Enjoy. It's a great experience especially the time on the track and skid pad. Also, it's fun and a little scary when you get to drive an X5 so that it's sitting on three wheels at the top of an incline.

Delivery includes the factory tour, track and skid pad time and the three wheel X5 demo. Also, a very fast ride around the track in an M car, dinner, and a hotel room.

Just got back last night. Was a great experience. Take a cell phone video of the M5 drive around by the professional driver, no one will believe you. Everyone came out just shaking their head is disbelief, we went over 120 on the back stretch into the skid pad. He never let up

Thanks for the tip on the video. I'll do as you suggested. Tomorrow is a travel day and Thursday is our pick up day.

How many cars were being delivered when you were there?

I really missed my PCD as I had taken the vehicle at the dealer.

Its a one time chance (unless you buy another BMW) and experience the ultimate driving machine.

Njoy and drive safe back home....
