Tracker & insurance - UK info

Can any UK member offer current information re the above (options, insurers etc.), noting a fitted and working tracker device currently seems essential to get X5 cover due to theft issues.

Thanks.

I've just had a provisional quote from direct Line for my 40d coming in at £530 includes protected NCD, Hire Car, Legal etc. Compulsory excess of £500 on any X5.

No requirement for a tracker though.

Quote me happy is actually part of Aviva, who often insist on trackers for high value vehicles, I moved away from Aviva at one stage as they insisted on a tracker for my Merc ML. I had used Aviva up until last year for my X3, was very happy with them until the premiums started creeping up and moved.

I've been giving a tracker some thought anyway .... many pro's and con's

For info, Privilege (0800 0516990) and Admiral (0800 9521500) are both quoting tracker-less prices of around £225 for me via Moneysupermarket.com search, which if true sounds like a great deal.

I'm in U.S., so not sure why I'm I'm here. But I was just wondering, are these prices for 6-month policies, or a year? Either way, I think that's a pretty good deal as compared to what I pay.

I've just moved from Admiral to Privilege after Admiral wanted to more than double my premium for switching from the M4 to the X5 M50d! (no tracker required on either).

After a fantastic initial quote from Privilege, I ended up paying them £617 once I'd added Legal Cover, Guaranteed Car Hire Plus and Protected NCB on.

(I'm 36 with 8 years NCB + no claims or convictions)

Admiral have confirmed me at 52yrs & Mrs a bit younger both clean records, max ncb & low mileage for £252.78 on X5 3.0D SE inc legal and protected ncb and car hire. No tracker. Total XS £600. Seems pretty good and can't see me beating it.

Privilege have a total xs of £950 to get to the same premium but still way better than others.

UK insurance is cheaper as you can insure just named drivers. In The Netherlands it is any driver, so I am 1200 Euros pa for a X6 M50d.

Hi guys, mine is E70 with a 63 plate with loads of extras. When I bought mine dealer suggested to go for a tracker so I did. But later realised not all insurers demand a tracker. However, I managed to get my cover with eSure for appx £220. At the time Quidco had a £60 cashback deal for eSure and it was paid to me so effectively it was just £160 for a car worth £62k.

Just added my M Sport 40d to our Multi-Car Policy with Admiral and no requirement or recommendation for a tracker to be fitted.

Pleasantly surprised at the premium as well (although it is difficult to translate into a direct per annum amount for comparison).
