PCD Done and X5 Finally Home...unitll....
Ok so PCD was an amazing event, and something I would do over and over. Dont think I will ever do another BMW without doing PCD. Even contemplation European PCD for the wife's next vehicle. Felt like a VIP the whole time and would recommend it to everyone if they can do it. The factory tour was great, and the museum was cool. Drove home and in the middle got a washer fluid warning. stopped and filled it up and still there. Got home on Sunday and could not have been happier with the drive and the way everything felt. Such an amazing vehicle. Well ok now for all the bad. Went out this morning and well pushed the button to start and got every malfunction and warning you could imagine. 600 miles on the vehicle and I had a glorified lawn ornament, I was not happy. So was finally able to get it shut off and locked and went back inside. Couldn't find much info on the issue and went back outside, it finally started and now has a check engine light on, so off to the dealership it went and where it now sits. Here are my specs for it and the pics are attached:
3.0 liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder xDrive, intelligent all-wheel drive M Sport Carbon Black Metallic Terra Dakota Leather Aluminum Hexagon interior trim Cold Weather Package Driver Assistance Plus • Driver Assistance Package Lighting Package Adaptive M Suspension Premium Package Ceramic Controls Leather Dashboard Harman Kardon surround sound system BMW All Weather Floor Liners BMW Cargo Liner Also as the very first mod for this vehicle, I switched out the Door projectors with an M logo spot. Now just cant wait to get it back. |

Thanks everyone, I am unbelievably happy. I never thought just owning a BMW would be such a different experience. PCD is amazing and even if I lived way far away I would do it and then just have the vehicle shipped after. The wife has already decided that her next is a BMW and she wants European PCD. Even with the vehicle being in for service on day 3, I can not complain much, I got a loaner that is nice to drive as well and the service at the dealership is amazing. Happy to be a part of the community. I am even going to head out to that Casino event that the NJ Chapter of the BMWCCA has going on later this month.
On another note, I have modded other vehicles before, however, nothing like what this vehicle is. There are some mods that I am really interested in, although, unsure if or how to proceed. I really like the look of the 6wb DIC and would love to do that on mine. Just not sure I am capable to do the coding and do not want to do anything that will mess with my warranty. I would also love to do the tuning chip as I hear that it gives a bit better performance and gas mileage. I guess I am just a bit nervous and excited at the same time. |

Soldano Good looking ride, congrats
Real shame that it's in the shop so soon, hopefully they get it sorted ASAP and get you back in it. However you could look on it this way, put some miles on the loaner to save them going on yours |

Just got off the phone with them and they say that there was something wrong with the washer fluid bottle and the sensor and they are both disintegrated and need to be replaced. They cleared the system fault from the software and can not find any other issues and cannot replicate the issues I was having, so ok all goes well i will have the vehicle back this afternoon. Then I have to wait untill Sunday for the Xpel and opticoat.

Wow. Disintegrated (vs just plain faulty/inoperable) sensor? That would explain the complete, but temporary light show you got when starting it up the next morning. This isn't the first we've heard of washer fluid sensor issues. Maybe they over-engineered this one. Give me old-school "Hey, nothing's coming out when I pull the stalk to spray the windshield. Must be time to refill." alerts.
Glad to hear they have it sorted out and that the dealership treated you well.

Yes and they had a replacement within a day so that is nice. They also said that to never use RainX fluid in a BMW because the chemicals in it cause sensor malfunction as well. Not sure if anyone else has ever had that issue, however I have been using RainX in almost everything since I was in the military and have never had any issues with it, so that is strange to me as well.
