Just got a 15 X5 50 M-Sport, some q´s..

Hello guys... nice to be back...

I used to own around a year ago a 2011 X5 50 M sport and just got a new one today... I like it... but seems to be missing the character that the old one had... the suspension was much stiffer which I liked and also the exhaust note specially on cold startups was "heavenly"... The suspension I can't get back... but the exhaust note maybe I can?

So is there a way to do this easily and cheaply... Maybe removing the center resonators? I don't want to go all out and do a catback... I just want a little more aggressive exhaust note... Is there a way?

Thanks!
JC

Jerich0 , Congrats on the car and welcome.
I have a suspicion on the resonator delete, that it should do it. But, no one has done one yet on the F15 50i and unfortunately mine is 35i.
For sure there are a few people doing the Meisterschaft muffler.
While suspension, no one made a full coilover system for the F15 yet. So, you are pretty much stuck with this soft suspension for now.

Do you mean the steering not suspension? Why can't you get the suspension back…? Did you have the sport suspension on the '11 and skip the DHP on the F15, or even with the DHP, not as tight as your '11? I know the steering is not going to be as tight as the E70 with the switch to electronic, even with DHP.., but I always thought with the suspension upgrades on the F15, you got a comparable suspension and handling (if not better) as the E70. I have regretted skipping those suspension upgrades on the F15 for that very reason.

Yes well... the steering is a problem as well and I purchased this X5 second hand with about 1,200 miles for a deep discount so ordering a new one with DHP would be much much more expensive but it does have M-Adaptive suspension...

So guys anyone in here has removed the resonators of the X? what can I expect?

Gotcha. I also assumed there were after market options but per R33's response, guess there are not yet.. Our next X5 after this one I think I will take advantage of the upgrades like I did on my last one and hope they are comparable to the E70. I still miss that truck. This one is technically my wife's, but I've been driving it more than her. Definitely more body roll than I expected from test drives. Not awful, but not what it should be for a BMW with a "sport" package. Ticking that one box used to get everything, now it's mostly aesthetic.

In any event, good luck and congrats.

Congratulations on the 50i. Welcome back. Has anyone tried replacing the down pipe. We did that on the 335 and it made a nice difference in the exhaust note.

From my experience with resonator removal and its outcome on past cars (turbo and non-turbo), the note gets raspier and not any louder.

@turbotoy4me, unfortunately, there is no CEL delete module that is available for the 50i yet. Which causing people to hold up on doing the catless downpipe.
Unless if you are not worrying about CEL, then I can have the downpipe developed.
