an LCI is coming on late 2016, or early 2017, the new redesign will likely come on about the 3rd quarter of 2017 as a 2018 model as far as I heard

So few months between LCI and redesign? Sounds insane, never heard of. I accepted a rather shitty deal on my 2016 F15 as the car was "still new" and then it gets outdated in one year. This would cause outrage among BMWs customers.

Would the 2018 X5 be redesigned again as of 2021? Not likely.

I'm in the same page here, I just got my F15 30d on Dec 23rd 2015.....I do believe the LCI will be here in no more than 1 year period, don't think the new revamped model will be in 2017, is just my opinion....

Personally, I don't think the X5 will see a total redesign next year. The only article that states the specific information received from BMW sources omits any mention of the 2017 X3 redesign and I do believe it's more or less known that the G01 X3 will share the CLAR architecture.

My guess...the BMW source misspoke and said the X7 will follow an X5 redesign when in actuality it's the X3 that will be new for 2017. This error gave rise to all of the speculation linked here.

Design language of the new X3 helps to point in this direction as well, since the new X3 is being updated to more closely resemble the F15 X5 based on various spy shots. It doesn't make sense for BMW to bring the new X3 up to a common design language, only to introduce a new X5 design language at the same time.

To sum...BMW will stick to traditional cycles. The X5 will receive a traditional LCI refresh for the 2017 or 2018 model year that will maintain the same architecture but will hint at some of the new design cues to come on the X7. The X3 will launch on the new platform but with a design language very similar to the LCI'd F15, the X7 will launch shortly thereafter on the new platform and with a completely updated design language.

The X5 will move to the new platform and totally updated design language under the GXX moniker somewhere around 2020.

I picked my X5 up yesterday and the dealer stated the 2017 X3's have started to arrive and they expect the 2017 X5's to hit the floor in August or September of this year.

It seems to be a leap of faith in the article, as the X7 release date itself is not firm. Not to mention, if they release a new X5 sooner than the customary 6-7 years, they will have to write off tooling assets for X5 that will have 2-3 years of accounting life left in them. Also, as to the source, I agree with alphaod

Someone i know that works at BMW HQ told me there will be no LCI for the X5 and they will jump right to the G05 X5 with a start of production in 8/2018 so we will a way out before we have to worry about the F15 being the "old model"

Your right on that considering most seen tested are X3's

That would be putting a 2017 x5 out cold turkey.
