Looking for a ZDH car, will it show up as 'ZDH' on a VIN checker?

So im using http://www.bmwvin.com to check options on the prospective cars, and I see nothing with ZDH anywhere. Either its rare (definitly possible) or I'm looking for the wrong thing. Will ZDH actually show up in the VIN options list as separate items (eg. 2VM) ? Anyone have an idea?

If anyone actually has a ZDH maybee you could try populating your VIN onto the site and see how it lists ZDH?

This would be super helpful, as I just cannot find a car with this

Thanks!

I don't know what ZDH is, but if a vehicle is equipped with it, it should certainly show up when you check the VIN

No, ZDH does not show up on the VIN checker. Mine shows the components of ZDH:

2VM Adaptive Suspension Package Comfort (which is: Dynamic Damper + rear axel suspension)
2VP Adaptive Suspension Package Dynamic (which is: Dynamic Performance Control+ARS)

Thanks much. So in this list you are seeing 2VM and 2VP at the top somewhere next to 2VB right?

I dont think anyone within 100 miles of me has ordered ZDH. I've VIN checked 96 cars (my arms hurt

Thanks again!

DHP / ZDH will be very hard to find on the dealers lot, unless a customer ordered and for some reason refused delivery. It's such an expensive option and it drives up the price of the car which drives away customers.

Correct.. because frankly the average joe schmoe expects BMW to handle right out of the factory with basic suspension and/or most buyers are moms who care less about handling or sportiness and more about BMW badge. I would suggest hitting the owners classified... http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=516 sometimes there are great deals there with DHP

@c63er Yes, near the top of the options list, right under 2VB.

I can honestly tell you it'll be tough to find that option when scanning VINs. I just recently bought an F15, and of all the M Sports I ran VINs of, not a single one came back even with 2VF even though it's only a $900 option...

ZDH is going to be even tougher. That means you'll be scanning for 2VM, 2VP and 7SZ. That was still a $3,600 option on top of ordering M Sport. For non M Sport, it would be $4,500. Pricey!

Thanks so much everyone, this has been very enlightening to say the least. I finally found one car (used) that has it, car is priced @ 70k for a 50i. Right now there are no 35i's with this combo, it seems like noone got these packages on the 35. Pretty rare if you are one of the few with it

I found a few in the past few days on BMWUSA.com/CPO page...maybe we saw that same one?

Both 2015 50i's, one MW and the other BSM. I feel like I saw a few others too, but yes definitely rare.

Let me ask everyone this: imagine there are three F15s. The first one has regular suspension. The second has Adaptive M Suspension (2VF) and the third one has the Dynamic Handling Package (ZDH).

If all three cars are in "Comfort" mode, would all three handle the same? Would two of the three handle the same? Would they all three handle differently? Again, I'm specifically talking Comfort mode.

Im using this chart for help with that question. Of course the sportiness/comfort charts seem to mirror the cost of the option , so do take it with a grain of salt, nevertheless its some kind of guidance

All three would handle differently.
The margin of difference between stock and just 2VF would be very noticeable. The gap between 2VF and DHP becomes very apparent with larger loads and/or more spirited driving.
It would not be obvious if all that you did was slow speed stop and go traffic around town.
First time you really notice the difference is at that off ramp you find yourself being very wary off, because you drive a vehicle with a higher center of gravity, but the BMW DHP greatly reduces the sensation that the drivetrain is going one way while the body might go another. That IS eliminated!
For a 2 1/2 ton vehicle to feel this nimble can be deceptive. I have to always remember that you CAN'T overcome simple physics.

Oh, in the future ALL purchases of new vehicles will have the DHP option included in our fleet.

They would all handle different, even with the cars being in Comfort mode? I ask because I was under the impression that the suspension only becomes engaged once you switch to Sport or Sport+.

ARS and air suspension are always active no matter what mode you are in.
Changing modes will modify parameters of the respective components of whatever options you have.

I recently purchased a used 2015. I was fortunately in the position to not have to make a purchase on any specific timeline, so I was able to wait until the right car became available at the right price.

Based on my test drives, I decided I wanted an X5 with DHP (ZHP). I set up keyword searches on both cars.com and autotrader.com and used bmwarchive.org to verify the results. I also checked the CPO listings on bmwusa.com at least daily and directly contacted used car managers at BMW dealers in Dallas, Denver, Chicago, Charlotte, OKC, and Tampa (I live in KC). It was time-consuming, but it ultimately helped me find what I wanted.

You're running into what I did - that DHP is a rare option. However, there are X5s out there that have it. You just have to be willing to wait until one in your price range is available. When it is, don't wait, because it will go fast. The one I ended up with was the fourth one that I tried to make a deposit on - the previous three sold minutes before I called with my credit card info.

Hang in there. You'll find what you're looking for. Don't settle just because you get impatient.

When I was shopping I was lucky enough to find one with 2VF on a dealer's lot and was
able to drive the std suspension against 2VF ... then, despite the dealer's recommendation
that I wouldn't notice the difference between 2VF and ZDH, I ordered the ZDH anyway!!
