That helps to know...I am wondering if that is the case for everyone or are some louder than others?

I've made my thoughts very clear to BMW Australia.

Have a solution in place by the time I hit 12 months (Feb), otherwise I will be pursuing them to buy the vehicle back.

I can't even sell it like this. It's pathetic, not to mention embarrassing on a car of this value (or any car really).

If there really are vehicles out there without the issue, then I guess it might be worth having BMW replace everything again. Eventually I might get parts which work?...

Can't imagine it matters - but wonder if being LHD has any impact.

Anyone had any further updates from BMW on this?

Latest i'm being told in Australia is that Germany are aware and are in fact working on a solution.

To be clear, there is not yet a solution and there is no indication as to when one might be found, let alone tested and rolled out.

Really disappointing.

I don't have clicking sounds and I have been listening for them only 4400 miles so far. As far as brake squeal yes I have that but I find washing the car (and yes I go through my brushless car wash) it stops after the car wash. I think the brake pads need to be cleaned constantly, like once a week for the brake squeal to improve.

I dropped my car at the dealer (2,400 miles) to have it replaced. Sound is not terrible but it is there. The dealer informed me they are aware as well as BMW of the issue and that BMW is working on a solution. The dealer was instructed not to replace any of the parts on the vehicle until a final solution was provided as they knew I will have to bring the car back. I am going to give them a couple of months otherwise might have to follow with a legal action.

Just took mine in at South Korea and they said the same thing, that BMW Group has told them to wait till they come up with a permanent solution. They said no danger to vehicle just acoustic noise.

Ive been going through these issues for a year, getting sick of temporary fixes. Giving BMW one last chance to resolve it before escalating further.. Still getting the Germany is working on a solution bullshit line.. I also have a sunroof rattle along with the clicking and brake squeal.

I ended up going with a X4 M40i since I didn't want to deal with this after coming off a 6 month bad relationship with a Macan GTS (issues with car and lousy service). I am hoping it's resolved in a year or two so I can trade the X4 M40i for a X6M.

Just noticed my x6m is clicking too the other day. Going to call my service advisor soon. Never had this issue with my m5's. Brakes are identical though. I've learned that squeaking is a sign of strength!
Don't expect that to go away. But that's just how all these high performance brakes work. Carbon ceramics aren't any better. At this point I'll be disappointed if they didn't squeak The clicking noise would be nice to get rid of. But I really don't care what people think. As long as it's not dangerous I'll learn to live with it. The car eats corners and if i'm turning slow enough to be bothered by this then i'm driving the car wrong.

It will typically disappear temporarily every time you take a wheel off and re-torque it when you put it back on. So often the techs will think they have fixed the issue, and it really isn't.

Someone should post a poll with the region. I see you're also an Aussie. Wonder if this is LHD related.

Brakes won't get better. Sorry to disappoint but that's how they all are. Every Porsche owner with steel or ccb's has squeaky brakes too lol. If you bed them they will stop squeaking for a while but after a few weeks it will be back.

It is absolutely unsatisfying!
The brakes start to squeak when the car is warm. Only softly and after a while louder.
The squeal is also more audible, at the last moment standing up.

Ive finally managed to get BMW aus to replace the brake pads, and after about 1500km they are still silent! which is an amazing different, it was starting to sound like a garbage truck or old bus pulling up. No specs or detail on the pads, other than they have a "sticky back", or they applied a compound to to the rear of the pad. This can help reduce the vibration/squealing noise. Still have sunroof rattle and bearing issue though, but to be honest they are less annoying than the brake squeal.
