Played with 650i

Yesterday on my way home a 650i didn't exactly want to play, but rather wanted to show me how fast he thought his car was. I am completely debadged except for the front grill. The look on his face, priceless.

Not debadged it's not. Most people don't have a clue what we have.

Even with a badge they don't have a clue what it is or what it's capable of. Even BMW owners.

yeah that's basically what I meant. That is one of the reasons I started gravitating towards this beast before buying it.

By the time they see the size of your rear tires it's too late.

I even managed to beat my neighbor's R8 manual, but I think the win was more of AWD vs rwd/manual/driver error

lol, most of the street races are won by the perfect awd launch.

I totally discgree as i was running down with an R8 V10 and I was pulling away as he had to take a U turn and escape into back roads. I wish i saw the look on his face. Keep your head up man it's a beast. AND if you have not tasted the power RaceChip provides....... I urge you to do so. make sure you are wearing double undies as I peed my pant's just a little bit on the D setting.

Recently I feel the car is bit slow, I have to dip into the throttle to get the Rush feel. Maybe it's time to get bit more power....

Speaking of debadging, what have people done with the badges on the side vents and grill? The rear badge is easy...

I feel like the car is fast but the transmission is too sluggish unless you're in M mode with the highest transmission and throttle setting. Otherwise it's too slow to downshift when you apply a little throttle and the car feels slow. Does anyone know if there's a transmission tune for these cars? Driving it in regular non-M mode is just painful.

Next month when the Beast arrives, Ben @ RG Sport Shop will be throwing on side vents with no badge or indentation. The Boomerang will be gloss black and the plastic backing will be color matched to Alpine white.

Will post pics next month.

I think it's just the programming. The DCT in my Porsche 991 GT3 was useless in auto mode for street driving. In non-sport mode it was too sluggish, in sport mode it was too high strung. Same thing in the E92 M3 I had, just felt too sluggish in auto mode.

The main thing I'd like is for it to downshift quickly with just a little throttle input so it feels more responsive and gets in the right powerband quickly, without hanging too long in a low gear after I back off the throttle.

I found that driving on Sport or Sport+ for the engine and the transmission on Level 2 (D2 - I have it saved on M1) it is perfect for city driving. Responsive enough when you need it going, downshift when needed quite quickly, but still very comfortable to drive.

Cool! Love stories like this. What exactly happened? Wouldn't mind seeing pics of your debadged car...

I'm also debadged but was thinking of putting it back on because nobody ever wants to race me. Haha. But I do think it looks cleaner without the badge. X5M is a little long.

I tried doing that as a compromise but it was still too slow to react, especially in the higher gears. When I was cruising around in 6th gear and wanted to speed up a bit it would feel really sluggish because it was so reluctant to downshift unless I gave it a lot of gas. Of course then it would downshift and take off like a rocket. It just seems like there's no happy medium on this car.

yes I feel the same. Sport + and D2 is my default normal driving setup, and local cruising at 50mph feel sluggish and doesn't downshift quick enough when I press the throttle. I have to either dig into the gas pedal or pull the downshift pedal :/
And D3 is way too aggressive.

M6 Coupe, I know the result of the M5, not to sure about M6. Also, speaking of M5. Just the other day an E60 M5 tried the same thing as the 650i. He started weaving in and out of traffic with me right on his ass, then he floored it with no traffic ahead of us. When we got to the light he just shook his head and gave me thumbs up.

I had an X5 try this with me. He had the M package, I think. But couldn't see it, because he was coming on the road when I passed him. He tried like hell to speed up and pass me, but I saw him looking and when he saw my X5M, he slowed down and got behind another car. He would not get near me. LOL And I wasn't trying to speed up or anything, just driving normal. And by the way, the X5M is faster stock versus stock over an M5, M6 coupe might be a little faster. But the magazine have been clocking the X5M 0-60 time after time at 3.7sec. So I would not mind going after an M6. I ain't scured.
