Sport Automatic Tranny Rev Blipping

For those with SAT. Does it automatically blip the throttle on downshifting in the Diesel F15?

Short and to the point. I'm disapointed that there is no throttle blip. The SAT on the E60 blips when downshifting.

Mine does the blip, but mines also a 35i, weird that diesels don't do it cus it's the same transmission.

Could be a way to code it for the diesels then.

What do you mean by blipping? The tranny will inherently match revs for each downshift - it's not like it'll slam you into the lower gear or anything.

On the other hand, if you mean blipping as in revving to higher than the necessary revs just to make a cool sound, then I don't know the answer.

Rev matching. Most cars do not automatically do it.

Granted, I haven't driven a ton of automatics in the past decade or so but I'd think that most automatics that give you the option shifting for yourself would rev match downshifts to save you from being wrenched forward with each change down.

I understand if the old school 'RND21' transmission don't do it but newer ones? Makes no sense.

Yeah, sorry. My previous response was too brief and not very clear. I meant that most cars with manual transmissions don't automatically rev match.

With an automatic transmission, there's really no performance advantage to rev matching. Some sport auto transmissions are programmed to blip the throttle, simulating the sound of a rev match.

most automatics do not rev match during downshifts causing, as u'd described, wrenching the driver forward with each downshift.

Mine doesn't blip for sure, but I don't have SAT. I usually avoid manual downshifting when slowing down unless I'm trying to compression brake.
