Test drove a 2014 X35i today

I'm looking to replace my faithful E70 35d. Been thinking about going for a gasoline engine this time, so I went for a test drive.

I must say the F15 did not feel as solid as my E70. I still like it though, don't get me wrong, but I did notice that the ride was extremely harsh, especially over bumps. It felt just like my E70 before I ditched the run flats.

I pulled over to eyeball the tires. Yep, there was the "RSC" logo. Dealer said they were going to put new tires on it. Run flats?? yes. I asked if he would consider non run flats, and was told that they could only put on run flats by law.

Anyway, I'm still looking. Will be testing a diesel next. Hopefully with normal tires.

Perfectly normal first reaction. My E70 M Sport drove like a tank. Heavy, wide and on rails. The F15 is nimble and less aggressive. The wife loves it, and I think it's extremely comfortable. A real cruiser! Give me some E70 steering and I'd be happy.

There is no law saying they must put on runflat tires; that's just making stuff up.

But depending on what suspension the car you test drove came with, it could feel better or worse than the E70. Personally I have found each iteration to be an improvement over the old one.

I'll be interested to hear your impression of the F15 diesel vs your E70 35d. The 8 speed transmission is magical when combined with the diesel torque!
