I plan on financing an x5 xdrive35i, but was wondering is it easier to negotiate, price wise, with a vehicle that's already on a dealer's lot compared to customizing and ordering one from factory?

Cars sitting on the lot are costing the dealer money, so often times they'll be a bit more motivated to move one on the lot.

With that said, there should be no problem negotiating very close to the same (great) deal on an ordered X5 as they're not in short supply by any means.

Agreed! A factory order is a guaranteed sale for the dealer and the dealer doesn't have to worry about paying interest on the money borrowed to pay the invoice or overhead/carrying cost to sit on the lot. If you are having a tough time finding what you want don't be afraid to go for a factory order instead. You should be able to get the same if not better pricing. Do not just go with one dealer either, the only way to get en exceptional deal is to make dealers complete for your business and you can do this with quotes for a specific configuration for a factory order too.

What's the MSRP? Does your price include tax and fees?

I'd order exactly what you want... It will take ~4 - 6 weeks from order to delivery and you will get exactly what you want.

In terms of the financial aspect, it will be a marginal difference between taking off the lot and ordering. I suspect you might get a bit more off by taking off the lot, but I also suspect you will be compromising somewhere (either options you don't want/need or color that isn't your first choice, etc).

I have just bought a 2017 X5 xDrive35i with Driver Assist Plus and 451 Wheels. The others are standard. I paid $61,000 for OTD. MSRP is 62845. Not sure if it was a good deal, just for reference. Also I's fresh to BMW X5. May post more here. Happy to be a BMW X5 owner. Im currently in South Florida. Dealer info: Braman BMW in West Palm Beach.

I live in the same area as you and there are allot of BMW dealers around here.

- Knautz BMW (lots of inventory, but keep an eye out, they will also try to sell you the car 'today' and then proceed to tell you when it's convenient for them to pick it up, literally), so if you buy one here, tell them your taking it home today, not next week!
- Motor Werks of Barrington BMW (stand up dealership, will start at ~6% off MSRP, but you can usually try and get better depending on what they have in stock.
- Patrick BMW (you can do pretty good with these guys at times)
- Bill Jacobs BMW (they can have pretty good deals, but keep a watchful eye as they like to try and play add on money games)
- Fields BMW (horrible deals, never bought from them, consider themselves the best and demand you pay for it, will give you a price ~4% off and good luck trying to get them to move)
- Crystal Lake BMW (stay away from this place by all means, this place is a Mazda dealer turned partly BMW dealer and staffed by all guys that will openly tell you they could care less if you buy from them or not, but that they will need to make their money on the deal, so be very cautious, lots of money add games as well they'll try)

Hope this helps you some. Personally Knautz or Patrick have decent inventory but Knautz puts 90% of their X5's as loaner vehicles, then sells them as New with about 5000 miles on them, all loaner vehicle miles as well.

Thanks a lot! That's the impression I've got so far, thanks for the Crystal Lake tip, they sounded pushy to me.

Is this a good lease price?

2017 BMW X5 xDrive 3.5i
MSRP $71,230, sales price $62,000, $725/mth, 36 months, 10k/mi/yr total due at signing $913 which is 1st and DMV. NY sales tax is in the payment at 8.625%. Dealer is telling me that after 12/31/16 all the incentives are gone and if I order a car it will be near $900/mth for same terms. My current lease is up in Feb so I don't need the car for another 2 months. Is this a great deal that shouldn't be passed up?

We are looking to purchase a 2016 or 2017 X5 before the new year. What's a good starting point for negotiation in terms of % under MSRP? I have read anywhere from 7-15%..

The car we are looking at is a brand new 2016 X5 sDrive with some options totaling $59,225 MSRP, and I have negotiated - 7% invoice pricing + $1,000 destination charge - $2,000 ongoing incentive for 2016 X5 models = $54,079

They have agreed to this price. Is this a good deal or should I push harder?

I personally believe that starting the negotiating at invoice (without any incentives) and going from there is good. If they're agreeing to sell at invoice, minus additional incentives, and aren't throwing in any absurd fees, I say it's a good deal.

2016 X35D with nearly all the same options w/out Driver's Asst. list was $65k out the door for $56,900 (plus another $399 doc fee). Bought in Dec 16 so they wanted to move before 2017 calendar year and for some reason people in our area (urban people) don't understand diesel rocks.

Do you mean you got it for $56,900 after tax? Assuming 7% tax, that would mean you got around $13k off MSRP. How did you manage that if you don't mind my asking?

We ended up with a 2017 sDrive35i with MSRP $65,520 for $56,500 plus $689 doc fee and tax. That was through Costco pricing which multiple people told me is the best you can get. This was in Atlanta, and all dealer doc fees are in that range here.

Would love to know if there's something more we could do in the future.
