Checking OBD2 codes on 2016 X6/F16?

My wife is concerned her X6 engine doesn’t feel right and wants me to troubleshoot.

It has been sitting in the garage awhile so I plan on charging the battery and then taking it for a test drive.

She didn’t notice any trouble lights but I plan on connecting a OBD2 scanner and see if there are any codes.

I own an Autel AutoLink AL539b (Scanner 3-in-1 Code Reader Battery Tester Avometer for 12 Volts Batteries, Full OBDII Diagnosis and Circuit Starting & Charging Systems Test).

I assume it can pull BMW codes but would like to confirm before I go to the trouble. If it can pull codes, will they be intuitive or do I need a decoder ring?

I also own an unopened Rj45 / Interlink cable if needed.

Thank you.

I'm assuming you'll pull just general obd codes with that. If you want full diagnostics, you might want to look at getting ista.
