2018 vs 2017 kidney grills

Finally, picked up the new 2018 F15 35iX M-sport and thinking about what mods to get started with.. first I am thinking about is replacing the stock kidney grill (chrome ring with black slats) with a black glossy version (maybe M-performance with dual slats, with no M emblem ofcourse).

I was looking at some listings on eBay for gloss black dual slats and most of them state 2014-2017, so I am not certain if BMW made any changes to 2018 grills. I checked realoem to get dimensions of the grills but sadly no dimensions are listed.

Chrome stock grill part numbers (51117303107, 51117303108)
M Performance grill part numbers (51712334707, 51712334710)

Would the kidney grill advertised as 2014-2017 fit a 2018 M-sport?

LOL.. call me anal to protect the protector..

The fact is, those aftermarket mats were in my E70 and when I traded it in, I transferred them to the new F15 at the dealership. Was thinking about removing them but it has been raining so much here lately, aftermarket ones collect water better then the OEMs from shoes, so I am keeping them on for now. Will eventually get rid of them...

Where did you get that grill?
That's the old dual slat that was made before X5M/X6M released.
Since the release, AutoTecknic made the 1 to 1 design as the X5M/X6M minus the badge.

The initial version slats are flat from top to bottom.

While the X5M/X6M version have curve outward like the original X5M/X6M.

Car looks great, man! LOVE that interior color. It's the only thing I wish I'd gotten that I my car doesn't have...

I've thought about doing an entire interior swap because I love it so much, but it's just too much $$

Aah! I see what you mean... Yeah I noticed that too when I removed the stock grill and put them side by side, but honestly, the dual slats in this older version doesn't look that receeded. Here's a click from an angle.

Thanks mate.. I actually wanted the black interior originally but as it was a dealer stock pick, this was the only option they had, but now I am really liking this interior as well.

Absolutely, I can understand some people might get annoyed.. I am totally fine with it, plus it was like 1/3rd of the price... haha!!! Although it did take a while to arrive.

Next up is more darker rear window tint... that's for next month.
