Brakes went from 11,000 KMs to 2000 in a matter of hours?
Hey guys,
Was out last week in Canada. My brakes were showing 11,000 Kms, but i went to a lounge, and when i came back turned on my car it showed service needed to be done in 2200 KMs . Odd i thought, i asked on reddit and someone said it could have been the cold weather (in canada) but its been a couple of days and seems like the sensors are working as its gone from 2200 to 1700. Is this normal? Obviously not but has anyone had this happen before? Also regarding pads --- do you guys suggest I do full pad and rotor swap? or just pads? Also do you recommend OEM or should i get something like Brembo pads (and rotors) or should i do something like Max brakes (ive heard good things about them and they are relatively cheap) Thanks for your input Im located in TO, Canada |

The sensor is simply a piece of metal that trips when it's contacted by the rotor and trips the "change your pads now" message. Also you don't necessarily needs to change rotors. You need to check their thickness. Rotors can last much longer than pads.
