RPM, Engine Temp, and Fuel gauge not working after battery change

anyone had this experience. never retrofitted the digital gauge. its fully stock. the RPM, Engine temp and Fuel gauge reading stopped working. Only thing that does reading is the speed. bottom reading for time still works. what to do? car is out of warranty (2014 x5).

much help appreciated!! thanks in advance!

it says "instrument cluster update needed"? is this a coding issue? tried to reset the cluster but didn't seem to resolve the issue, checked the fuses for the cluster and seems to be fine.

I'd drive the vehicle for a bit and see if it goes away on next startups.
If nothing changes I'd disconnect and reconnect the battery cable.
If those don't work, then I'm not sure...

Did you code battery using ISTA? Where do you see the cluster update message?

Yes I did drive the car for a bit and it seems like it’s still the same, I will try to disconnect the battery.

So I got the battery install the battery at an independent shop, and had the battery registered at the dealer. Was thinking the register would cure the car but it didn’t. The cluster update shows on both the idrive and the cluster.

Did you check fuses? You have the 6WA cluster?

So the dealer didn't bother to tell you what the issue could be?

Yes 6WA. I checked the fuses all seems to be fine. Car says, instrument panel: update required. Consult nearest service center.

They wouldn’t be able to help me look into it at the moment because it has a bimmertech back up camera installed. They said the camera would need to be fully taken out before they can spend x amount of hours looking into it. Trying to find solutions before breaking the wallet

Did you loose some coding after disconnecting the battery? Did you code the camera yourself or bimmertech guys did remotely?

You ask Bimmer tech for help? Did you code anything for the camera?

Lost the camera feature after the battery change. Scheduled an appointment with bimmertech and the were able to get the camera back but not the cluster. No other coding has been done on this car.

Bimmertech did the coding remotely. Told me everything looked “fine”

Not sure if I should do another hard reset on the battery.

Maybe the cluster lost an update. May need to reupdate it. Could have a bad memory battery.

Would that be more of a coding issue? If so, a dealer or independent shop fix? Or more of a hardware issue? If so, dealer or I can change the memory battery?

Asking because I’m planning on trading in the car after this.

Internal batteries are not usually replaceable.
Maybe some coding guys can chime in with some help.

Hope so, hoping it’s not a hardware issue.
