X6 M50d - Fuel Consumption

Any UK owners out there willing to share the real MPG? Buying a car mainly that the wife will drive and perhaps me at the weekend.

She only does town driving nothing too far, is this a crazy buy. Love to hear your thoughts?

Thanks clubby that doesn't look too bad. Just wondering if 4.0d is better choice.

I traded in my e70 40d
Hwy 6.8
City 9.0-10.5

The F15 50d is just amazing so the little jump in fuel consumption doesn't bother me.

Yeah I am thinking that the difference in fuel isn't too much. The 3.0d isn't going to cut it for me, so it's a choice of 4 vs 5. My wife says she doesn't need the extra performance for the school run but I do at the weekends :-)

Me thinks you stretch the truth a bit? Tuned E70 40d was barely getting below 10 on a trip (mostly 110 zone, so 115 actual, overtake EVERYTHING) and 12.5 on the school run. Have had it clog up the engine twice as it does not get enough run up to do a DPF burn and dumps Diesel in the oil.

Hi - have had a new F16 M50d for 3 weeks, having moved up from 40d.

Mileage in UK gallons (imperial gallon is 1.2x US gallons)

Daily commute across London = 25mpg (9.4 l/100km)
Motorway runs at 70mph = 39.9mpg (5.8l/100km)

It's about 10% more expensive than the 40d, but 110% more fun.

Hey Burt,,

Thanks for this really appreciate it this gives me exactly what I need. 10℅ I can definitely live with. Misses will be driving around London which isn't too bad.

Quite impressed with the motorway economy which is what I'll be doing

I am so impressed with the F16. Such a major model upgrade. The M50d is well worth the extra cash over the 40d. My only additional advice is get Adaptive Dynamic Suspension (+£2.5k). It may look expensive, but the suspension difference between Eco, Comfort and Sports gives the car a completely different character in each mode. The softer suspension is very effective and comfortable when you have long languid runs, or city trips with speed bumps, cobbles and pot-holes. Sports mode is very sharp, and a perfect partner when you need to be enthusiastic. If you have doubts get a test drive from you dealer in any car with ADS.

Thanks for this. I've just done a deal on an ex demo unfortunately I couldn't find any with this option installed. I know based on my M3 days that I will realise very early that I won't be able to drive this hard with just the M suspension.

I'm also looking to pull the trigger on one of these next week.

What sort of discount should I expect and can anyone recommend a dealer.
