Spare Tire Compartment DIY
I ordered the spare tire option during my build. To my surprise, when I got my X5 M sport, the spare tire compartment is BARE with all exposed the sheet metal and wiring. I does not look good and does not give me the clean and tidy look.
For those who feel the same way, I successfully want to share my DIY. I purchased the followings original parts: 1 pc. Luggage compartment pan - 51477371440 - $150 9 pcs. 20mm Expanding Fastener - 51471911992 - $0.60 each It was easy to retrofit and optionally, I added some sound proofing materials (boom mat) to the compartment flooring before I installed the luggage pan. Additional tip - locate the spare tire mounting hole and mark its location before final installation. With this done, I now have a cleaner look and maybe help in additional sound insulation most specially when I do get the MPE.

Now I'm wonder if there is a way to get rid of third row seats and retrofit this.

Some pictures of what it was like before/after would be nice. I don't have the spare tire option, but it's always something i'm debating.

Very nice.
I have batteries there or I'd do just what you did!
