When will Digital Dash Become Standard in the US?

As the title says, I saw someone say X5s built in April+ will get the digital dash as standard. Is that true??

I can't find anything anywhere else showing that to be the case.

Thanks,

I'm really surprised it's not standard already lol It's been standard in Canada for a while. Makes no sense!

Canada was probably a test market - which is not always a good thing. Maybe Canadians are nicer with issues. I can't see car makers testing new items in the US because it is the largest car market.

Anything that confirms that?

Thanks,

Hopefully never! Optional would be ok.

Although I have it, it's disappointing BMW make it more functional with other displays and features (a la Audi).

It seems like BMW just wasted the centre area between the two semi circles. I would have used that space for navigation data, radio or even the phone.

Their brochures show navi in the middle.

If it makes you feel any better, the Multi-functional instrument panel is still an optional extra @ £ 325.00 in the UK

Ah, you're right! I just ran to the car to check...the only problem is that you have to turn off navigation in the HUD for it to move to the multifunction screen.

Good to know though...thanks.

Same with my M4. Standard gauges.. But navi does not appear in my HUD & Cluster at the same time.

This is very timely though. The April 1 (speculation) of it becoming standard intrigues me.

Our X5 starts production this Monday the 4th... We shall see how it ends up.

Why would you need the navigation data on your cluster if you already see it on HUD? More of the same thing at the same time......makes it utilitarian

Garage List
I found with HUD, I rarely look at the dash anymore, only occasionally to check mileage, gas level, oil temp...

Found out my car will be completed on 4/5 so - this week. I assume then that means my car will be before the cut off to potentially get the digital dash??

Damn!

I would only be jealous for not having digital cluster if the display quality was up to par with other auto makers. Currently the display is poor quality so I'm kind of glad I don't have it.

audi has been offering that information in the mfd standard since 2002. while it was quite convenient back then these days with the information in the HUD it really isn't necessary and redundant.

the new virtual cockpit is a bit of the same but at least with tft screen you can choose what shows up where so you do not have duplicate or triplicate.

putting this cluster in the x5 now really serves no purposes except for minor refresh, hopefully when the lci debuts it will have far newer tech and more inline with the competition. aoa gave me the new Q7 for a two days on two separate occasions and i had ample time to play with it but despite the tech i decided on the 2016 x5 instead. additional photos can be found in my IG feed below.

Do we have a confirmed answer of when this new fangled dash goes standard in Murica?

My US-spec 35d looks like a May build and I really hope that they are not putting these in as standard. In fact, does anyone know if there is recourse if BMW just decides to start putting them in and people don't want them?

I would guess that IF the digital dash comes to the X5 in the states...it'll be an option or baked into an existing package.

That said, the dash upgrade is a rumor right now if not simply wishful thinking. The iDrive upgrade is from BMW blog (which is a pretty decent source from what I've been previously read) but I've yet to see anything on the dash upgrade outside of this forum.
