Question: if my car has to go into the dealer, should I change my coding back to the stock or should I not worry about it? Is there an easy way to change it back to stock? I know Omar helped me back up my files...so I just got to know if there's an easy way to change it.

I wouldn't worry about it myself, but you can make sure FA is original, and reset every ECU simply by VO Coding.

2. Right click code ACSM, KAFAS2, BDC_BODY

Not flawless (sometimes has a higher light spot than I'd like on the car in front), but does an awesome job of adapting around oncoming traffic.

Could you go into more detail about how you made this work?

What are the things that recent builds can't code? I want to make sure I avoid them incase it screws up something.

Also for stuff in BCD BODY for example.... How long does it take for the new function to start working?

Is it better to code the car actually running or just with the dash lights on but engine off? Want to know what is best practice.

Thanks!

Alan,

I always code with just ignition. But the new built standby setting is pretty annoying, it shutoff by itself at around 15 minutes of standby.

What would happen if the car shuts off in the middle of writing to the Ecu or if your laptop shuts down abruptly ?

I'm a noob when it comes to coding as I've only coded my own car but I did it with the engine running as Omar said in his guide that it's ok and easier due to the auto-shutdown. I didn't want to risk it shutting down when it was writing to the ECU.

When Omar(opasha) disappeared thread is almost dead
shawnsheridan is very good in coding, but looks like he also do not have a lot of time for this.

I will be very much appreciated if you can help me with this:

Igor, you mean rear-lights working as DRLs 100% of the time? Look up DRL tail-lamp in the cheat-sheet (requires 4 values in BDC_BODY coding).

Most stuff in BDC_BODY in instantaneous once you code it in. Some might require for the car to "sleep" for 15-30 min.

Code with car engine running and preferably 100% battery on your notebook. I never tested what happens if during the coding process you lose power or unplug the cable, but since it's more or less like flashing BIOS/etc. on PC's - nothing good will. So power wise - better safe than sorry.

Thanks I will keep that in mind.

So what are the things or folders that cars with the latest Bmw can't code/access?

I remember opasha saying something about this but can't find it.

You'll find out if/when you can't read the coding for the folder

My 2015 X6M was built about 10 weeks ago, and I haven't found anything that isn't codable with the latest downloads yet....

Ok good. Mine was built about a month ago so we should be on the same software.

I have the latest files and was able to code one FDL code last night before my laptop was running out of juice. Going to finish the rest of the coding stuff tonight.

I coded everything over 2hrs straight (took my time since it was my first time coding) engine off with just a battery tender connected, set on trickle charge.
No issues whatsoever, car never tried to go to sleep/shutdown... didn't want to keep the engine running idle that long.

When the car off to sleep, you will get an error on the coding. Just turn the car back on and re-code it.
It happened to me a few times when I just looked at the computer and gave me error message, then I notice that the car is in off position.
While in coding process, the car will not go off by itself.
I usually check the car ignition before I click on the code.
While computer went dead, never happened to me. But better to have the battery in full.

Oh, you can change the value in the laptop with the car off. You just need the car to be on when you are going to submit the data to the car.

That would be the rear taillight DRL. It is under BDC_BODY section.

Alan,

I believe it was the BDC_BODY.
But the last time I coded a car that has the latest firmware, it was working fine.
Could be the first release of the PSdZdata was missing that database.
Maybe shawnsheridan can chime in on this.

^^ I one thing i able able to code last night in my April build X5 was in BDC Body and it appear to code fine. The ambient lighting turned off during the process which is normal but the new functionality didn't take yet even though i got confirmation that everything coded ok. I will try it out later when i get home from work.

I am not aware of anything that cannot be coded in newer builds.
