I think Atomic did but i only had the F85 rotors up front. I felt like going through the additional cost for the rear F85 rotors mainly for just aesthetics wasn't worth it for me.

To be honest i'm not sure the F85 rotors are really worth doing over the standard MPBK unless you can pretty much get an even trade for the rotors by the dealer or sell the blanks for good money. The benefits of the F85 rotors won't be noticed on the street and only maybe if you are doing some high speed track driving which I would say 99.999% of X5 drivers aren't doing.

Agree on that Alan, mainly just for looks on a daily driver. But you've gotta admit they DO look badass! I was happy that my dealer gave me full retail on the blanks, otherwise I wouldn't have done it...definitely would've have made sense.

That's a sporty but very tasteful X5. The amount of red accent is subtle and just right.

Incredible x5 man!
Love th red accents and I may borrow the idea

I just picked up a black sapphire '16 35i m sport last week so I'm new to the x5 scene. I traded in '14 335i m that was modded quite a bit so I definitely have th itch to mod.

Love your ride man!

The wheels are darker now on my X5M since I had them refinished to a dark chrome shadow color.

The F15 is not sadly gone. Probably ended up at some dealer auction.

Here is the replacement car. Red/white with BBS theme carried over too. Wheels refinished to a different color.

The dark, white and red combination theme is excellent.

Hey Alan, like to ask a question on how difficult it is to install the Front Splitter, Rear Diffuser and Rear Flaps.

I have obtained a quote from my dealer on the parts and install and just on these 3 parts, it is close to AUD8k (USD5.5K). I can get them officially shipped for around AUD5K, thus saving AUD3K (or USD2K) if I choose to do them myself.

I have acquired and going to DIY the front grill, rear spoiler and side decals, as I think they are the easiest, and I opted for the dealer for the others as I think those 3 parts are the most complicated.

It appears you have completed them in a day or so, with the right tools.

I am not sure which way to go, and since I am already DIYing on some parts, given the difference in time and high costs, it may just be better to DIY everything.

Thanks in advance for your advice

Saving 2K USD is a no brainer to me. If you've done any car modding in the past installing these parts is a breeze. I DIY everything in one afternoon and that was taking my time. Just read through my DIY post and which also has the official bmw instructions in there somewhere. One thing you may want to consider is use betalink for your install instead of the 3M tape that i used. I never had issues with mine but another member said his front spoiler ripped off the car after driving over 100mph for a decent amount of time.

BMW designed these parts very well and they all fit like a glove. Everything has a template for you to follow so its hard to mess up. The rear diffuser and front spoiler has guiding tabs for you so you can't mis-align the parts. The rear flaps comes with a paper template where you line it up to existing screws under the bumper so you know exactly where the new holes needs to be drilled.

One thing i would caution is the side skirt decal. Its not as easy it as seems. I've worked with vinyl wrapping cars before so it wasn't a problem for me but if you've never wrapped anything before its not a easy piece to start with.

Thanks Alan for your detailed reply, that's re-assuring and good to know! I have done modifications in the past, but not too much, and I will make sure to check back on your guidelines and advice!

hello,
i Dm'd you...
i need your opinion if you could oblige.

I'm interested in the eisenmann exhaust for my 2016 x5m. I purchased the dinan but that was totally useless and a waste of time. looked good though.

I wanted your opinion on the exhaust and if its worth the money.

I appreciate your time.

best.

Having a lot of trouble with the front grill replacement

Not sure if its been any update for the 2017 model, but there are bits that look different from some of the pics provided before.

Love following this thread! I would strongly suggest one thing - paint the hubs black! On our 'll X5d, the 20" wheels looked awesome...but you could see every detail inside and outside the wheel (yes, I washed the inside and outside part of the rims). After a year or so, the factory hub started turning a really ugly color. Dealer wouldn't do anything about it, but I hated it for a year...until the rotors had to be replaced under factory maintenance

Just my two cents!

@alan

What kind of tint shade did you get to closely match the rear windows. Are they legal in NYC? Thanks!
