NBT Retrofit F15 [Full Guide]

Retrofit NBT in F15

Hello buddies, for all of you who bought the F15 with standard 6.5” CIC display, you can successfully retrofit NBT with 10.2” full HD display. First of all, my deeply gratitude to opasha and shawnsheridan , 'cause without their amazing help, this wouldn't be possible at all.

Ok, first things first, what do you need?

•Complete NBT system (used it’s ok). The complete set comes with:
-10.2” Display
-Head Unit
-iDrive Touch Controller

•Video Cable (part # 61119261850). Believe me, your current CIC video cable looks the same, but it’s not and won’t work)

•NBT adapter (in order to use Navigation, Voice Control and Apps)otherwise, everything else Works perfect.

•Coding.- (special thanks to Shawn and Omar for their help and hours of work and patience)

Here are some pics of what you need:
NBT

Video Cable

NBT Adapter

Ok, let's do this:

Step 1.- Take out current CIC:
•Kombi dash plastic (just pull it out from borders)
•Dash trim (you can pull it out after taking out Kombi dash)
•Center base plastic (this is the bottom center head unit plastic, also pull it out, no screws)
•Center console (after everything is out, here are some torx)
•Head Unit (unplug cables)
•Screen Display (torx and video cable)
•iDrive Controller ( I have no pics for this, but it’s really easy ☺ )

Step 2.- Install your new NBT system (in order to install the new display, you have to replace your current video cable with the new one)

Step 3.- Coding
•Add 609 and 6NS to FA and write FA to car (when this part of coding is done, you’ll notice some error codes in kombi and display, your date/time won’t work, vehicle information, etc. tha’ts why you have to Flash your NBT in next step)
•Flash NBT

-Flash NBT (use VIN matching NBT FSC Codes - normally Donor VIN). This part has a step by step explanation in other forums but I can't find it.
-VO Code Kombi or Dkombi
-FDL Code NBT => KOMBI_CIC = kombi_low and NBT => BASIS_KOMBI_MMI_LIST = aktiv if car has Basic Kombi
-FDL Code Dkombi => KOMBI_AUFLOESUNG = aktiv if car has basic Kombi

Done!

This is my first guide and I hope it's helpful for everyone who is interested in retrofit NBT. You can PM me anytime if you need help buying the right parts and PM shawnsheridan or opasha for coding

That's standard for most countries...not for Peru, and many others were you pay higher prices to

Congratulations LatinBimmer! I'm impressed beyond words! Since you've successfully done this, I reckon the next step MAY very well be the HUD retrofit project

It's fantastic work - congrats again!

Just what I've been looking for. Same problem with men in Panama. Can you send me a list of parts needed for complete retro? Thanks!

Hi Latin Bimmer, bought mine in Panama and have same issue! European specs. Are those the only 3 parts you need to perform the retrofit? At a parts store in Canada, they gave me a long list parts to perform this. Are these the only ones I will need or does this require certain other options? Really appreciate the help.

They are all over eBay, most coming from Latvia, Russia, and Lithuania area. I did a swap on my last E71 and it worked out well.

My 2014 X5 has NBT with 10.25 screen, If I retrofit NBT2 EVO without changing the screen, do I need to change the video cable? I remember someone says NBT2 evo has different voltage output.

Depends if you are retrofitting touchscreen or not. Check here
