What driving mode do you use

I have had my 2017 X5 for a month now. I had been driving in comfort mode, but today switched to sport mode and loved it. The problem is, that whenever i shut the car off and restart, it defaults back to comfort mode. Every time I restart the car, I have to manually put it back in sport mode by pressing the button. Isi'nt there a way to have it default to sport mode?

That would be Sport + in Manual Mode using the Paddleshifters for Redline shifting! Sport+ means No auto upshift at redline when in Manual mode.

How many people use the sport mode by moving the shifter to the left? Is that the same as sport mode or only sport shifting? I like this feature and use it a lot.

I have been using sport (chassis only) and then using sport + for more spirited driving.

Although, you have to push the button twice to go from sport to sport +

I have found no huge mileage benefit from eco pro. Although, I do like using the auto off engine when waiting in a parking lot vs. turning the car off.

Also, even with the MPPK eco pro still does not have sufficient throttle for passing or evasive maneuvers. I just don't feel comfortable being able to react in that mode.

Moving the shifter to the left only activates the "sport program" of the transmission, thus changing shift points, allowing the transmission to hold gears longer and causes the transmission to shift much faster. It does not change throttle response, steering weight, suspension settings or DSC settings like the Driving Mode Selector does.

I usually drive in Comfort. I like Sport mode a lot, but it will not allow the transmission to shift into 8th gear automatically, so I don't use it much in daily driving.

I've yet to really use sport and + mode. I stay in whatever it starts with typically.

Maybe I should change that up a bit.

Eco. I commute 50 miles each way and the mileage benefit is wonderful. I stretch a tank to 700+ miles.

Try this test... when on a highway switch from comfort to sport while in constant speed and watch your rpm needle drop. Then switch your shifter to the left and watch the rpm drop further.

Comfort usually. I rarely use Sport and never use Eco Pro. The whole disengaged transmission thing doesn't work for me since I lose compression braking and for Sport I don't like cruising at 3500 rpm.

If I want to pass, I push the gearshift to the left for S mode. I've hit the 127 mph governor many times in Comfort mode. The car will become very fast when you floor it at any mode.

Sport+ to the highway then comfort or eco when I'm just crusing...when its just me; Comfort when the wife is in the car. With the DHP in Sport+ it handles like my 135i did.

Sport mode (set to chassis only - M adaptive) - 75%
Sport+ mode - 20%
Comfort - 5%

[QUOTE=superdog;21393087]I've yet to really use sport and + mode. I stay in whatever it starts with typically.

Superdog, what I have found is that if you are driving on the highway, keep it in comfort mode, but for in town stuff and to have some fun drive in sport mode. For some reason the car feels lighter and faster in sport mode, especially taking off from a light. Its like having a couple different cars.

99.9% of the time it's in Comfort mode. Sometimes I switch it to Eco Pro, but don't find there to be much of a benefit.

It's never been in Sport or Sport +. Not my thing.

You can code "last setting" for comfort and eco but not for sport or sport+

I can't see driving in Sport that comfortable least of which why I'm rev'ing to 4000 rpm when I'm driving in the city. If anything the only time I use it is on the highway and only for short periods of time.

Comfort mode until the engine is warmed up then Sport mode exclusively. I like to be in full control of the car and hate having lazy throttle response.

Anyways I find it very interesting a lot of folks on here (at least those that have responded) prefer to use Sport most of the time.
