Try this test... when on a highway switch from comfort to sport while in constant speed and watch your rpm needle drop. Then switch your shifter to the left and watch the rpm drop further.
I think you may have meant that the other way. The RPM will climb when switching to sport and will climb again when switching to sport shift. Each instance drops the transmission into a lower gear.

I'm usually in Sport or sport+ immediately... especially around town never in eco and occasionally on comfort when cruising on the highway at high speeds.

+1. Works for me too. I coded it to remember whatever mode I was in last.

Usually comfort with the RaceChip Pro at level 1. Occasionally I'll switch to sport or eco pro for a tank or two to change things up. When in sport, I set engine to normal.

How have you found Racechip performance to be on your 35d? I'm a hair from pulling the trigger though I won't drive nearly as much in my next act.

Comfort mode generally for me. Occasionally when I want to have more responsive power on tap I'll switch to Sport. Haven't really felt I needed Sport+

+1. I generally run in Comfort, but will use Sport when I'm in traffic and feel the need to "move" quickly. Run a bit in Sport +, but not enough to really appreciate it. When we're making a long distance road trip I'll switch to Eco; it's worth an extra 1-3 mpg. I never use Eco in town, I feel like I'm driving a bloated whale

What real difference is there from Sport to Sport +? My understanding was only change was the defeat of the stability program (to some extent) I find it hard to believe they eliminate it all together. If anyone who knows could share Id appreciate it. I almost never use Sport + for this reason. Maybe I'm missing something?

You are right about the Traction Control being turned off in Sport+ mode. There are at least two other changes that I noticed.
1. No Auto Upshift when in Manual Mode
2. Launch Control is now available

Comfort mode and I pull the shifter to the left for better throttle response. I hate how laggy the throttle is in pure Comfort mode. I only engage Sport mode when on a twisty road or driving very fast on the highway - especially when the wife and kid are on the back.. cause it reduces the body roll by a lot, of course by sacrificing a bit of comfort...

I never ever felt the need to engage sport+ mode.. or may be one time I did and I was shown pretty fast the rules of physics still apply to big heavy trucks

Technically, it's DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) that is defeated in Sport +and you only have DTC (Dynamic Traction Control). Additionally, there is a different (more aggressive) shift schedule as compared to Sport. I'm not sure about suspension changes as unfortunately I do not have a optional suspension. Your other comments are correct!

I just noticed this comment today and decided to go out for a drive and try it out...

Holy Guacamole!!! I couldn't believe what a difference that made, it was a completely different experience than just pushing the Sport button like I normally do. Wow!!! I'm just blown away! Now I can fully appreciate my MPPK upgrade and understand why you had so much praise for it. Thanks for the tip Kzang!

Comfort, but I must be getting used to it and crave a more peppy driving experience/feedback, so slap the shifter to Sport mode.

I am almost always in EcoPro... Comfort if passengers are in the vehicle and Sport/Sport+ only when going on road trip or for highway driving.

Until your comment I just assumed that the only thing pushing the shifter to the left enabled was manual shifting.

Shifter to the left increases throttle response for me. I guess some people think it is the same as pushing the sport button.

When I pressed the Sport button I got the confirmation animation on the iDrive screen and the instrument cluster showed the letter D and then the word Sport. When I pushed the shifter to the left, the letter D changed to the letter S followed by the current gear that I was in and as you said the throttle response and shifts became incredibly quick and tight!

Is M/S mode, by pushing the selector lever to the left, the same as the drivetrain setting in sport mode (Sport/Eco button)?

Basically I want to control the sport suspension and drivetrain independently. So I could go into sport mode via the button and only have sport transmission. Then if I want sport drivetrain I can push the selector lever to the left.

I guess another way to ask this would be, while in sport mode, via button and both suspension and drivetrain selected, would shifting to M/S mode with the selector do anything?
