Insurance

I'm a 27 year old male with a 2017 x5 m, and my insurance is hella cheap — $65/mo for full coverage.

What's everyone else paying? I'm mind blown it's so inexpensive.

In order to compare apples to apples, you may want to include coverage amount, deductibles and where you live.

I am older than you, male with a '16 50i and no tickets/accidents. I have my house and 3 cars insured with the same company. My coverage limits are 100/300 with a $1000 deductible, full glass coverage and uninsured motorist coverage. My most recent policy is $1113 annually (this amount reflects just the X5 portion of the policy) before the annual 20% dividend, so I expect it to cost me $891 this year. Again, this is for a 50i, not a M.

My lease on the M5 ends soon and Im about to order an X5 ///M. I was surprised to hear my insurance will be less with the SUV.

I'm currently paying under $2k per year for the M5 and an '06 Volvo in Pittsburgh.

In addition to the coverage limits, your location has a lot to do with your rates. I have the highest coverage available with high deductible. I'm a 50+ year old female with a clean license and pay over $2,000/year for a '16 X6M in a NYC borough.

There was literally only a few dollars difference for me between the cost of the 50i and the M. I guess when you pay over 2 grand they don't want to screw you too much more.

With regards to the OP it sounds to me like your paying for an X5 3.0.

Consider completing the defensive driving course if your state offers a discount. I save $360 per year and paid $25 for the course and the discount is good for three years.

My current insurance is lower than it was on my previous 550i xdrive msport , the M has about a 30k higher sticker, was pleasantly surprised to see that!

I don't buy what OP is claiming. Even with one car(non BMW in 2009) and good driving, 300 deductible, I was paying 800 with Wawanesa Insurance.

What specifically do you not agree with?

Where you live has a HUGE impact on your rates. Here are a couple of screenshots from carinsurance.com showing the average insurance rates for 3 different zip codes. The first is your ZIP code based on the location in your profile. The second is mine and the third is downtown Providence, RI, literally 1 mile from my home.

I think what positiveions is saying, is that even with allowances for where you live (or the company you use, the risk pool you belong to, or the levels of coverage you have), the annual quote by the OP seems really low.

Could it be that he has other factors that reduce the rate (e.g., part of bundled policies, high co-pay, limited coverages)? Of course. But I think we all recall how the other factors (like OP's gender, age, price of insured car) would tend to push the price of coverage up.

The last time I parked a car on Thayer Street (VW GTI 16V) or in Rancho Cucamonga, my rates were over $100/month. I wouldn't imagine rates that low for a new car.

Shhh, don't tell everyone, they probably made a typo in your policy.

Funny thing is that the OP hasn't responded since.

Hopefully it's not an evil typo if at all, e.g. $65 in place of $650 per month

I quoted you because your policy sounds reasonable/legit vs the OP which made no sense.
I used to be an insurance agent. Most of 20 to 27 y.o. Insurance premium on say a given vehicle that is brand new would equal, if not higher, the car's monthly payment.

Very similar age group here. 2017 X6 M. I'm paying $213 per month for full coverage with $1k deductible. This is the cheapest I could get down here even with clean record.

In my 50's and not very clean driving record - minor speeding tickets and claims for car rental fender bender. Wife also similar record. Multi-car insurance. Adult kids with clean driving record added to insurance. X6M 2015 full-coverage with $1k deductible. Progressive insurance $137 per month.

Don't see how $65 per month for OP.
